The Dr. Eugene Scott Ministries is still on FOX 61 in Hartford, CT Sundays from 10AM-11AM. This despite the fact that he's been dead more than a year. They're still running his old tapes.

Any other stations still carry the deceased televagilist?

KDOC/56 Anaheim, weeknights 10-11pm and Sundays 7-11pm (although I have also seen his daughter doing the Sunday broadcasts).

According to the Dr. Gene Scott website (yes, there is a drgenescott.org website!), he is still "alive" on:

K49EK Santa Barbara CA: 24/7
KRON/4 San Francisco: Sun 6-7am, Mon-Fri 1-2am
KDFI/27 Dallas, KRRT/35 San Antonio and KTXH/20 Houston: Sun 10-11am
WUXP/30 Nashville: Sun 8-9am, Mon-Fri 6-7am
WHCP/30 Charleston WV: Sun 7-8am
WSMH/66 Flint MI: Sun 6-7am
WTTG/5 Washington DC: Sun 6-7am

... and 24/7 on Telstar 6, transponder 7 and General Electric 3, transponder 20 (one of which is probably feeding the Santa Barbara LPTV).

ALMOST!...Show hm with his many hats and lit cigar and have him say "Git on the TELEPHONE!", show a bunch of pics of his horsies and play "Neutron Dance" from the Pointer Sisters non-stop! Also have an announcer on cue say the following:

"You may call Doctor Scott at 1-8-HUNDRED, 3-3-8, 3-OH 3-OH. THAT'S 1-8-HUNDRED, 3-3-8, 3-OH 3-OH. YOU MAY ALSO WRITE TO DOCTOR SCOTT AT POST OFFICE BOX 1, LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, 9-ZERO-ZERO-5-3, THE UNITED STATES. THAT'S POST OFFICE BOX 1, LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNINA, 9-ZERO-ZERO-5-3, THE UNITED STATES."

For the record, he died on February 22, 2005. As for Hartford, he used to own then-WHCT channel 18 and would run on the station nearly all day and night. They changed ownership, then went off the air in 1991. WTIC-TV (FOX) channel 61 used to air him five nights a week from like 12:30 to 4 AM back in the mid-to-late 1980s.

Bishop Fulton J. Sheen has been dead for years, and EWTN (Eternal Word Television Network) carries his old shows day and night.

Also on the channel, Mother Angelica, bless her sincere soul, has been unable to speak since a stroke took her down sometime ago, also is rerun on the channel.

I wouldn't sully the good names of either lumping them in with "televangelists", but its two examples of talk show hosts living on....

Dr. Lester Sumrall died ten years ago this month and yet his sermons continue to air on his LeSEA Broadcasting. At least I know they do on WHMB-40 in Indianapolis, but I would assume Dr. Sumrall still appears on the network that bears his name.

Are you sure that is his daughter KM? I thought that his widow is running the ministry. He married a much younger woman (now in her mid 30's) that used to be in some aspect of the adult entertainment industry. It is late so I'll leave it to ya'll to google her as all the dirt is there.

When you talk about Gene Scott, don't forget about him singing "Kill Some Pissants For Jesus."

Lets not forget the great J. Vernon Magee! Heard on KCBC-770AM in Modesto, California.

He still drones on endlessly on his shortwave outlets in Costa Rica and Anguilla, plus KAIJ Dallas and WWCR Nashville.

Immortalized in "I'm Gonna Dig Up Howlin' Wolf" by Mojo Nixon and Skid Roper
(zany country/blues/rockers from 80s and 90s):

I'm gonna lay with Dr. Gene Scott, have me some weird little kids
I'm gonna lay with Dr. Gene Scott, have me some rabies babies
I said oh Dr. Gene, I wanna see your spleen, haw haw

It be the widow. Pastor Melissa Scott (the former 'Barbie Bridges') is running the show, and just the way Doc taught her to, methinks. This week there's a big to do about volunteers who don't fork over the mandated tithe, and PMS is threatening to clean house. One guy was on her hit list that night. BTW: her outfit of choice for the occasion: a Harley Davidson sweater.

'PMS'. Living up to her initials, isn't she?

Oh, by the way, the next "Sunday at the Cathedral", assuming the above isn't a weeks-old rerun, will originate from a Masoleum, presumably where ol' Doc is entombed. Never a dull moment on the University Network, is there?

Get on the telephone. Make your reservations now.
