Due to severe thunderstorms in my area last night. And the power being out for 6 hours. I missed Tuesday nights episode. According to the previews. Something happened to Captain Phil of The Cornelia Marie. What happened? Is he ok?
 
Well, they'll probably show it a dozen more times. To save time, he banged into the corner of a dresser in a storm and was coughing up blood. He then suffered for 60 hours until he finally got to a clinic. In the end, they left us hanging because it looks like he has a problem with his lungs and he needs more tests.

Great episode though, which is saying a lot because it's an excellent show. One of the few programs running now for which I can make such a statement (Family Guy and Ice Road Truckers are others).
 
Too much reality; showing the coughed up blood. Not good if you're enjoying dessert. Hope for the best for Capt. Phil.

Yes, but at least it is REAL. Quite unlike all of the light, contrived crap that passes for "reality" television on the main networks and on channels like E!, VH1, MTV, etc. Wasting time watching some little diva crying about an outfit that doesn't match her shoes is moronic. That stuff rots your brains and God help our kids who spend hours on that garbage. Honestly, I think it's almost as harmful for them as cigarettes!

On the other hand, shows like Deadliest Catch show real guys working real jobs and facing real issues. Issues that are faced by a lot of us, or at least people we know. That's what makes it compelling.

I too wish Captain Phil the best - he seems like a pretty good guy.
 
I once had a job as a Government grain inspector. I was hired in 1977 after a rash of elevator explosions, mainly down South. When the job was offered they sent me a list of 6 export locations which I was to list in order of preference. 4 were in the TX-LA area like New Orleans (area0, Houston-Galveston (area) and 2 others (can't remember) plus Baltimore and Philly.
I listed Balt #1, Philly #2, Balt. #3 and so on. They gave me Baltimore and my oldest son is a Baltomoron!
Why-because I researched the weather of the Gulf Coast loacations as well as the weather the day or so before the explosions. The common element was very unusually dry air coming in from the NW that made those elevators a tinder box. Lesser chance of that happening on the East Coast so I took a calculated risk. Took the job which was about statistically as risky (at that time) as an Alaskan fisherman. Of course safety measures were instituted right after all those fatalities. Thankfully
My point is that there are a lot of dangerous jobs out there but I really respect the fishermen for doing what they do. But the coughed up blood upsets some people (not me) with weaker stomachs.
