Is WVKO-AM going to be up anytime soon? Isn't it supposed to be sold (I don't recall seeing that it was)?? Maybe the liberals could pool half a million together and get their station back.

If they don't have the site built by May 5th of this year the FCC will likely cancel their license because this is date of the one year anniversary of WVKO going dark on May 5, 2006. Stations that are dark longer then a year automatically lose their license as a matter of law. So, It's not looking good for WVKO every making it back on the air any time soon, if ever.

This facility could be little more than a light pole with a unipole antenna being fed by a 250 watt transmitter. For audio, a computer running Music Match Jukebox into a limiter would get it done. This type of setup could be assembled in 2-3 weeks.
The goal is to be ready to broadcast SOMETHING by the deadline.
I had the opportunity to conduct a due-diligence inspection WCIN in Cincinnati a couple of years ago. They had been running on an STA for a long time and their 9 tower site was nowhere near ready to operate.
As long as the licensee is trying to get it built, the FCC is agreeable to extend the STA to finish the job.

They knew precisely what they were doing. Percy Squire accused them of predatory lending. That's his opinion but in my opinion, Caveat emptor.

Agreed. But unless Squire is on the hook (and even if he is but has no cash), the assets sold at a bk sale won't fetch enough to repay them. If they're really lucky, they'll break even. Whoopee!
