Dean and Rachel are out?

There is no way they would fire Rachel. This can't be true.

Any predictions?? Maybe the new Brent and Rachel show on KGFM 101.5???

The end of Rachel Legan's long morning stint at KGFM can be a blessing in the end for her. She's been loyal to the max when it comes to her dozen year run with American General Media. It's time for Rachel to revert to character and get back into the news end of broacasting..and this time I mean TELEVISION NEWS. I don't understand why one of the three Bakersfield television news directors hasn't snagged her long before now. In terms of
involvement and knowlege of he market, Rachel ranks right up there. A good writer..a crisp, authoritative delivery with an "edge". She was News Director at KERN for five years and demontrated some really good instincts. As a former colleague of hers there, I can only say good things about her character and motivations. Good luck, "Rach"...and "Gil" says "Hi" from South Lake Tahoe.

GuyFry, Good point about Rachel.

But when you think about it, are you really surprised a tv news director in Bakersfield hasn't figured out that she would be an asset?

Or, maybe they have approached her in the past but she stayed at AGM because she was VERY COMFORTABLE there.

She may be well advised to return to KERN-AM. My understanding is they could really use some quality help these days. Not sure if she would draw much more than they have now, but it couldn't hurt.

Your right about that.I've been waiting to see what they were going to do with this.
I for sure thought they would put that girl with Doug DeRoo after reading something she posted somewhere(wish I could find it right now!!) about how much her two morning partners meant to her and on and on and on.
I guess she and Doug also worked together for a while. It was full of sappyness and exclamations of how the recently fired Dean made her a better jock and employee and what a great friend he was to her and all that jazz.
My wife works with Doug though and after some inquiries she found that he wasn't leaving tv.
She also heard that besides really bad ratings Dean was let go because he was making a handsome salary and basically Rachel is just cheaper.
Maybe her brother is cheap also.I have never even heard of him but it was interesting to read the tiny part of the article about the poverty and drug addiction.
Having had experience in a similar upbringing I can say that I am just grateful to have a job and maybe that is the situation. In the end it always comes down to money.
No ratings means no money for the station and that goes down to the employees.15 years or not if she doesn't pull this off with her brother I bet she will be next.I don't listen to that station but it caught my attention when the newspaper did the story. I also thought it was weird that they did a story on a show with such poor tune in.That is Bakersfield for you.

I think this is a HORRIBLE idea. If you remember anything about Mingo and Dirty, you will know this is a horrible idea.

Are they brothers? I have heard Dirty on KISV but not Mingo. Are they related...or are they just cheap? LOL

I'm sorry I just don't understand the connection.I do agree with you about this not being a great idea.I'm wondering what the appeal will be?

Has anyone from AGM heard from Rachel? I don't see her brother mentioned on the KISV website but the article says he works as a DJ there.

Dustin Legan is Dirty Sanchez from the Mingo and Dirty show. Let me be clear, Dustin is a tremendous talent, but he will not fit that format. It would be like putting Romeo on KUZZ... obviously a talented guy, but with the wrong format... not a good fit.

Dirty/Dustin is a chameleon and a damn good one too. He will add some extra life to the show and the station.

Rachel is a great talent, as well. While Dean was a nice guy and a decent talent, but the balance tipped in Rachel's favor all of the time. Dean was not Rachel's on-air equal. Not because she is a bad person, but rather, she was the Alpha on the show and it wasn't balanced. Dustin will help bring some needed balance to the show. Rachel can't and shouldn't have to carry the whole show. This is a very unexpected move and think this show could become something amazing...a defintite direction change.

Good luck Dirty...er...Dustin. And congratulations Rachel on having your brother as your co-host, someone who is your equal.

Mingo and Dirty made for a good team. Their problem at their last station was lack of direction and support from the higher management. They are both talented men, who have 2 different ideas on how to do morning radio. They did have good chemistry at times. They just didn't have anyone working WITH them. A good PD works with his staff to keep them on point. They didn't have that.
