Yes, he was. A lot of us San Diegans remember Dean from his 13K days - the end of KGB-AM, 1979-1981, although he doesn't list that on his resume anymore . I also remember him in AM drive on KRTH.

He also doesn't list his time at KCBQ: I did nights with him in 1979, not too long before I went to KHJ, and that gig ended (for him) when he read in Tom Blair's column in the Tribune that Perry Allen had been hired to do nights at KCBQ (I worked with Perry for a short time before going to LA). I'm sure his KCBQ experience did not make him too fond of PD Jack Woods (Charlie of Charlie and Harrigan, who did mornings at the time).
