Dean & Rog to K-Hits...

Are they moving because Clear Channel no longer wants to pay for air talent or did Cox bid up the ante? Best of luck guys in your new gig!

details details details!!!
over 10 years with the Arrow?

does that mean W&J are moving back to FM? :-[

wow...cox actually gets talent.....now if they could only KEEP it.....remember Paul Christy?

Scott and Suz should show up at The Point, please give that station SOME personality....

Would not be suprised if CC goes cheap and simulcasts W and J on AM and FM.....

I'm sorry to hear Kevin Charles will be cut from K-HITS.

After the move to Houston, KKRW in 2000 issued an on-air apology to City Councilwoman Annise Parker regarding what she described as “anti-lesbian slurs” used during an editorial by one of the show’s producers.

Man, I miss Kevin Dorsey.

Congrats to both Dean and Rog and Cox for making a very smart move. Now if K-HITS will just adjust the music to a more Classic Rock format and not play the same songs over and over again like the Arrow, then I think they could be a real contender.

simulcast may be a bit much. more likely this

cc is looking to replace local with syndication where they can. w&j are local to us, but are doing quite well in the syndication department too. bet they get new affiliates in minor markets that are nixing local talent....uh, i mean paychecks.

jus' my toonistic opinion

First let me say that I am sorry to hear that Cox management has chosen to cut, yet again, one of if not the most dedicated, forgiving & all-around nice guys in radio. Yes ladies & gentleman I am speaking of Kevin Charles. Give the man a great big hand as he passes, but please don't pat him on the butt, since it has to be sore from all the times Cox has kicked him in it.

Kevin I hope nothing but the best for you & yours. Ever thought about driving a truck for a living. The money is better than what radio is paying these days & they always need drivers, no robots at the wheel yet.

As far as D&R, they are one of the 2 morning shows I will listen to in the car, when I don't have the hard drive spinning anyway.

But I have to ask, just how tight the restraints are going to be over at Cox? 90% of what they do are things that management wouldn't allow others before them to do. No phone pranks (Birthday Scam), no real controversial, risque' topics (What color are Suzy's panties) not risque' to me but can't see Cox letting it happen especially since they were always worried about upsetting the soccer mom's & the yard apes with them.

Not to mention the parody/comedy service (The D&R Singers - does Jones Media still own the service?) trade or cost, not something Cox was willing to shell out for in the past.

Please NO W&J back on FM!!!! Maybe the Colonel will want to wake up early?! ;D

The only way I will be happy with W&J on 93.7, is if they flip 950 to Liberal Talk.

Dont hate. Walton and Johnson need to be on Fm. I always had a feeling they would end up the arrow

Sorry, I just don't find them funny. Just not my cup of tea.

Also, Dean & Rog have been removed from the Arrow's website all together. I did not tune in this morning, but this leads me to believe, they are gone until June.

I agree, W and J are NOT funny. Not even a tiny bit.

I am a D and R junkie, and they were THE reason I listened to the arrow.

So, they don't work at all from now to June 1??? Seems like a long stretch to me, especially since I am used to waking up to "the 5:30 club."

I agree about W&J, part of the reason KLOL died. :(

I liked Dean and Rog for a morning show. a lot better than Rod "scream as I talk" Ryan. the might have had a non-compete in their contract and since the contract was coming up, and with Cheap Channel going syndicated for all formats, this might have been the best option.

I hope K-Hits and the Point gets better. ::)

I'm sure there's a noncompete. June? Yeah. Looks like the guys get some time to enjoy their families before the new gig starts. I'm happy for both of them. They're both decent and hardworking people who have put a lot into this community. I'm certain they're bailing because they understand that, whether or not they signed with Cox, CC would be replacing their show with something that's already in their syndication roster.

Huh. For some reason the word roster looks wrong, but I double-checked. Maybe I need more coffee.

Thats complete BS! They are NOT part of the reason KLOL died! Rock 101 was already dying a slow and painful death before they came along. Bad management and programming did that format in. What facts do you base your opinion on Jay?

Agreed.

I don't really have anything to say but that I really like Scott Sparks and Susie in the morning. I like their clean cut approach and I like hearing MUSIC in the morning too. They are topical, community focused and just easy to listen to. I have spent my years listening to Dean and Rog (and Suzie) but fear their schtick (sp?) is just a little too much for me these days. It's a slam dunk to put W&J in there but to what end? I know W & J showed us that they could make the un heard of three time move in one market but with Dean and Roge it's a kind of making radio look like the ho it has become...you know? I don't know.. I'm going to the lounge for a drink. ???
