Dean & Roj a Bust? A bigger mistake than the Sam Malone contract at Mix

D&R got a 5-year deal from Cox, so it will easily total "millions." Not many millions, but 2 or 3. I think the point was that Cox made a bad move, not that Dean & Rog don't do a good job. PPM numbers I've seen tell the same story--W&J ranking higher, D&R lower, but it is way early. Cox will most certainly NOT terminate them! It's called a contract. They may terminate someone else.....

Not many folks left there to terminate ???

Since I was told in several posts that ratings aren't out, I made some calls to buyers and checked several different sources. All of them confirm the following:

Arrow mornings with Walton & Johnson: 3rd, 3rd, 3rd -- 3 weeks in a row.
Eagle mornings with Dean & Rog: 9th, 7th, 7th. 4 to 6 rank places behind W&J.

Agreed, too early to tell. Or is it? W&J went to first place when they moved from AM dial to Arrow. The very first week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And D&R didn't go over to Eagle quietly. Cox bet the bank on those silly ads, which were everywhere. The whole station slogan is based on those 2 guys (plus 52 minutes of music), so anybody who ever listens knows they are on, and has known for 2 months they were coming.

Listen, everybody can have their favorite morning show. But if you are referring to the top show between these two, the numbers are clear. And they will continue to be. The dead man in the envelope may be the fool who brought them over to Cox at that insane money. Those of you who dispute their pay don't know a thing about what morning show talent gets in this market, trust me. Make a friend in one of the HR or accounting depts at one of the clusters, take them for drinks, and ask the question. They know, and they'll tell. And you will fall off your barstool.

know what's worse? D&R have almost zero bonus incentive.
Here's their "work" day.
4:49AM roll into the office/studio
get coffee
check face book page
book t-time
check stock portfolio
make sure board op is airing archived "dead guy" and "scam" bits
flirt with interns
check stock portfolio
giggle and say "who gives a crap if W&J are beating us"
make sure board op is still hitting those archives
9:57:22AM - get the hell out of there (god forbid anyone pulls out in front of them in the parking lot) go to bank - deposit another big check

4 years of this - I want to be D&R

I worked with them for five years, and I don't recall that being their work ethic at all. Sounds like somebody swallowed a bitter pill.

how bout some numbers smart guy?

Dean and Rog may have been in the Houston market longer than Walton and Johnson, but I think W&J are wearing out their welcome sooner with CC management. Time will tell.

Dean & Roj Vs.W&J from the great Radio Empires!
Whole thing plays out quite well for both, doesn't it?

Cox knew they were betting the farm, as it were on D & R. It was NOT a good move, and look how many GOOD people they got rid of so they could afford to pay D&R. They also remodeled, and God knows what else. I hope D & R fall flat on their butts and are out of here by December, contract or no contract. I want my oldies back, not some vulgar old men who get on my last nerves. I haven't listened to KEAGLE since they did their first mass firing. I will never listen again - unless they become an oldies station again. And as far as D&R and everyone who's along for the "ride" with them - they can go to hell.

In the last ratings the Arrow and the Eagle were tied and both in the top 10 and the Eagle has much better numbers than the other formats on this freq. D&R were the right move for the Eagle and they will eventually beat the Arrow. You just wait and see.

Wow. When Wyngs hit this board I thought she was some housewife running around town needing to hear Chicago one more time...but now it appears she has evolved into a distraught caller on line twelve!

I definitely don't appreciate that. I have opinions, and am entitled to them. I am not a "housewife running around town needing to hear Chicago one more time" nor am I a "distraught caller on line twelve". I am someone with a passion for radio and a passion for oldies. I am allowed to have that.

And I will be laughing my butt off when D & R hit the skids - which I hope is tomorrow.
