Dear Bay News 9

When you have Tarpon Springs getting hammered with 50 MPH winds, like is happening right now at 7:48 PM on Saturday, July 21st...

That's your cue to go live and provide wall-to-wall coverage rather than sticking with your pre-recorded stuff.

Not if you're Cheap Channel ...

facts don't matter on this board...hasn't ANYONE figured that out yet ;D

Key word: TV, cable TV. Don't expect cable TV for emergencies.

Simple works, like, ohh, I don't know,,,

Any one hurt? Any damage? If so, how bad?

High wind and severe weather in Florida is nothing new. Stations usually only provide wall-to-wall if there is a Tropical storm, Hurricane or other weather event affecting a large area. I am not aware of any major impact had by that wind (if I am wrong, please advise where I can read up on it).

Did any of the other stations besides Bay News 9 break in to report on it?

There was a lot of cloud to ground lightning, and a couple water spouts were spotted. Bay News 9 was running a crawler, Channel 28 and a couple others were doing cut-ins. I heard some EAS alerts on the radio... what's the big deal? If anyone was stuck out in the storm, I don't think BN9 would have been of much help to them...

That's why we should all have a weather alert radio with the SAME system, so we don't have to depend on the media to initially warn us...

Welcome to Florida. :D

Bay News 9 was on the air live every afternoon all weekend and today with a crawl and live updates... what did the broadcast stations do? Maybe run a crawl from time to time. Just because your town got high winds and they didn't mention it is no reason to be upset, lots of towns got high winds and they were covering it, I was watching.

I've only know Bay News 9 to to live with tornado warnings. Must say they are more dependable than some of the local broadcast stations on this matter, Fox 13 for example.
