Dear CBS.....where is Erica ?

This morning on "CBS This Morning" there was no Erica Hill. She was not on the set and NO mention was made of her AT ALL.

She did not look happy on camera all this week.

I hope we see Norah O'Donnell back on as a permanent member of the CBS This Morning team very soon.

Thank goodness! The ice queen was dumped immediately. There is a difference between being Anderson's sidekick and being a network anchor. Norah and Charlie have great chemistry and ask real questions to politicians -- rather than the Matt Lauer-type fluff interviews.

Disagree. Norah is painful to watch. With the addition of Guthrie on Today, I'm done with the revolving door of personnel at CBS' morning shows. I gave it a shot. I like Charlie and have enjoyed Erica since the CBS Saturday Early Show, but I'm going to join the other millions of viewers who watch a network morning show other than CBS This Morning and go back to Today. It's nice that this decision coincided so nicely with NBC adding a very valuable member to their anchor team. Savannah Guthrie and Erica Hill are both top notch. Maybe Erica could replace Savannah in the 9am hour of Today???

I wonder if Erica would be offered a correspondent's role on 60 Minutes or CBS Sunday Morning, and if so, whether she would accept. Both programs could use an infusion of "under 50."

Erica was not THAT bad at all. I agree she didn't bring her CNN personality to CBS though. CBS This Morning is still the best of the 3, but they could loosen up a bit.

I agree. Erica Hill was a good presence on the show. But Nora O'Donnell was spectacular when she sat in for Erica. It was like the missing piece of the puzzle. She came in as smooth as silk and fit right into the mix seemlessly, in my viewing opinion.

In regard to the comment that CBS needs someone for the under 50 crowd...........WHY???????

The under 50 crowd is falling away from network tv news......they are getting their news increasingly from the internet........tv news may be following newspapers out the door.........so networks should hold on to the audiences that they have......even if they are over 50.....the younger demo as stated would rather get the news from their fav news sites on the internet........or from Jon Stewart........not from evening or morning newscasts...........

The younger demo besides relying on the internet is not as flushed with cash as the ad agencies would like the nets to believe......many of them are going back to live with mom and dad...........

So CBS.......hold the course...........................................and improve your internet platforms.....make all of your newscasts available for free..................................

They don't need someone for the under 50 crowd, they need someone who is part of the under 50 crowd just to preserve their brands.

Charles Osgood, Bill Geist, Rita Braver, Bob Simon, Morley Safer, and Steve Kroft will all either retire or go to the great newsroom in the sky some day and CBS needs to replace them.

As mentioned in a previous post I had a feeling that Erica Hill 's days on CBS' Early Morning Show were numbered after Norah O'Donnell's appearance a few weeks ago.

I also feel that O'Donnell brings a certain chemistry to the program that Hill did not.

So no surprise here!

The author of this newspaper article hit the nail on the head when she wrote that CBS executives discovered that Erica Hill was one of the reasons CBS's Early Morning Show remains in third place.

So now we know why O'Donnell guest hosted three weeks ago. It was a 'test run' to see if she could handle the job; which apparently she did with flying colors.

As for Hill's future with CBS; I don't think she has one. I'm betting she goes back to CNN.

So if the show remains in third place, which is certianly will, does that mean O'Donnell will be shown the door in six months?

The next real shot CBS has to make a splash with this show is the 2014 Winter Olympics. Until then, they will be in the cellar.

Doesn't NBC own the rights to Summer and Winter Olympics?

Erica Hill was a holdover from the previous CBS show. While I understand that she has her supporters on this board, let's face the fact that she wasn't getting it done on CBS This Morning. It may have little to do with her personally. She simply wasn't blending well with Charlie Rose (who doesn't appear to be easy to get along with).

NBC has the rights to all the Olympic Games through 2020. The last Olympics NOT on NBC were the 1992/1994/1998 Winter Games on CBS. ABC hasn't had the Olympics since the 1988 Winter Games.

My bad, I thought CBS had held onto the Winter Games rights.

So the morning show will remain in third. Without Erica.

If Erica Hill was the savior of the CBS Morning Show then why hasn't the ratings increased since she's been on? Also take into account that she also served as co-host during the previous reincarnation of that program and the show still remained in third place.

Now that Hill has been replaced with Norah O'Donnell don't be surprised if in the near future CBS executives also give Oprah's buddy, Gale King, the boot as well. She doesn't add anything to the program either.

Eventually the program will consist of Charlie Rose and Norah O'Donnell. And I pray that CBS continues with its current format of providing real news coverage and stays away from that entertainment crap that NBC and ABC offers in the mornings. When a network newscast starts out with the divorce of Tom Cruise and Katie Homes is when I turn the channel.

As for Gayle, she's fine in the second hour with the entertainmnet news. Once Norah starts, I'm sure that Gayle will return to "when I see you at 8am".
