I've almost "Elvised" my TV a couple of times because of Bob's Discount Furiniture commercials. I can't stand that guy.

At least Bob pronounces his "r's" unlike Elliot from Jawdan's.
As much as the sight and sound of Bob annoys me, it's his method of selling that I dislike more. His mantra has always been that everyone in the furniture business is a crook, except him. Remember "I doubt it".
A few years back he was saying that nothing is free and don't be fooled by so-called give-aways. Lately he's been touting how much free candy and ice cream he gives away. What happened to "nothing is free"? I just don't like his method of advertising. You can promote your business without deriding other businesses. I was happy to hear that the blonde on the ads is not his wife, she's much too hot for that little bridge troll. I also thought he was from Gardner, MA not CT.

Reminds me of a certain afternoon show host on 680.

And of course Art is going to come to Deno's rescue because he's a fellow GOP'er, they have to back each other at all times.
They adhere to Ronald Reagan's 11th commandment - "Thou shalt not say anything negative about another Republican"
LOL!!!!

OK, waaaaaay off topic, but this is a perfect illustration of why you should never believe the marketing campaigns that spend so much money on radio and television.

"Bob" is a marketing thing. He doesn't own Bob's.At one time, he owned a piece of it. Now it's owned by private equity money. Same with Jordan's. Barry and Elliot have been out of the ownership picture for years. It's owned by Warren Buffett. BTW, "Bob" isn't the CEO, either.

When "Bob" owned his piece, the majority owner was "Gene." "Gene" is one of the biggest furniture liquidators in the country. He runs "going out of business" sales for furniture stores.

The liquidators work by making deals with furniture companies going out of business to sell their stuff. Heavy discounting on their furniture draws people in. Then the liquidator brings in cheap furniture and sells that during the "liquidation" sale. People associate the cheap junk with the quality stuff the going-out-of-bidness store was known for and overpay for it.

Bob's was just another way to sell relatively low-quality furniture. The Jordan's radio and tv marketing campaigns are based on the same concept.

Furniture is like used cars. It's all about the marketing, and radio and television are very effective at making people believe that the cardboard sold by Jordan's and Bob's is actually good stuff. "Not to be confused with Jordan Marsh" was more accurate than most people know.

The beautiful thing about calling out media hacks in a forum like this is that you have a guaranteed chance of hitting them in the seeds. Why? Because we all know that there are two things media hacks cannot stay away from: Mirrors, and message boards that cover their industry. Although, in the case of behemoth Dennis, make that one thing. He's a full-of-himself media hack who will waddle over here to see that I wrote this.

What a schizoid thread! Let's try to join these two different topics:
John Dennis should not buy el cheapo furniture unless he wants to crash through to the floor.
As the Dean's Furniture spots used to say: "It's a NO-BRAINAH!!"

He's on his own this time. I've recently learned that I'm 1/64th Fagawi Indian and as such I must remain impartial in order for my new enterprises to be successful. Watch for it. Big Chief Artie's Casino and Cut Rate Smokes.

I forgot to add that I'm afraid I've broken President Reagan's commandment. You know how Bucky Dent picked up a middle name after the playoff game in 1978? Well, I add that same middle name every time I refer to John F*****g McCain.
