While I am impressed that you read this site, I am also rather amused that you take the time to personally answer many of the posts here. It shows that either, a) you are an incredibly insecure human being, or b) you do much less work than many of us had previously thought. I'm thinking it's somewhere in the middle. So since you're reading, allow me to make some recommendations for you:
-Get your own imaging guy. I know, I know, that costs money. But Salem is making cash with its properties, so they can afford to hire somebody. Or have somebody like Dan Deely do the promos. If you want airtime so badly, give yourself a show. Lord knows you're as qualified as some of the people you've already put on. Leading to point b....
-Time to get some veterans on the air. At times, it is painfully obvious that the kids you've put on simply do not belong there. It's like college radio. Cheap helps the bottom line, but not the ears or the credibility. Find a way for a Rizzo or Levine or Jeff Phelps to get more work. Use your update guys more, who are some of the most under-utilized in the country. Roda and Brinda also do not need to do EVERY extra show or personal appearance.
-Bring back a live, local morning show. I know, I know...money, money, money. But if done correctly, a local morning show will pull in cash. People waking up in the morning want to talk about last night's Indians/Cavs/Browns game, not about the Oklahoma City Hornets. Unless your name rhymes with "Bern" or "Toyner", I don't think a national morning show will work in this town. Leading to another point....
-Demand Salem invest more into WKNR. It's the only station not at their Independence complex. Why is that? From what I'm told, your equipment is stone-age, at best. If Salem loves the product, prove it. Either upgrade, or bring you over to the family room. Get some more advertising, produce TV commercials. I'm sure you can't be happy seeing Len Howser on every station, while the handsome Greg Brinda is nowhere to be found.
-Stop responding to every post!!!! Sir, this is merely a discussion forum. I do not post all that much; I enjoy reading what true professionals have to say about things. It's ENTERTAINMENT; your product might be more entertaining if you put more time and effort into that, other than this little board.
Having said all this, I realize most, if not all, will not happen. I do not believe you were brought in to make many decisions, sadly. But from this outsiders perspective, these and other moves will improve your station and its ratings. And perhaps all these posts about you.
Happy reading.
Sincerely,
A radio fan
