It's unfortunate that so many people are willing to pile on to people who never thought this would go like this.
It was a bit gone bad. Yes, the "release" joke was in poor taste, but since when is poor taste a crime?
Whatever happened to taking responsibility for one's actions?
I feel horrible for the woman's family. I feel equally horrible for all at the station.
There can be no "happy" ending to this in any way.
I come away with a lesson learned; All radio stunts, even the one you think might be harmless, contain some risk of death. And any participant in any contest, assuming they don't go the way of the cart deck, and I'm pretty inclined to believe that this incident will end "stunting" as we've ever known it., should be made aware of it.
I still will never agree with those who believe any crime was committed. It remains, in my opinion, a tragic accident, but an accident nonetheless. And the woman was given plenty of opportunity to opt out. People engage in far deadlier behavior than she did that day. And they do so of their own free will.
Hers is the tragic result of a questionable decision. It's not her fault. But, it was her decision. And because of that, I would never hold the hosts of the show responsible. It's nobody's fault
It was an accident. A tragedy to be sure. But first, foremost, and forever in my mind, an accident.
My thoughts remain with all involved.
