Debbi Calton

This board is notorious for being negative about talent, but I wanted to give a jock I think is great some props. I was recently back in Philly driving around and got to hear Debbi on WMGK and not only is she the best sounding talent on WMGK, I think she is one of the best sounding jocks in Philly period. keep up the good work Debbi!

On the topic of female legends in Philly, don't forget to add:

Leigh Richards (WXTU)
Christy Springfield (WCAU and WOGL) (not sure if she is still on)
Marilyn Russell (Y100, WXPN, WMGK) (again not sure where she is now)
Sherri Lee Stevens (Y100, WPHI, now with WJJZ)
Patti Jackson (WIOQ, now with WDAS I believe)

Who else am i missing? I am thinking of people still working.

You are forgetting Kim Douglas!

Slant: She still remembers you from three years ago as that psycho stalker, she's still afraid to go to her car after her shift and find a dozen dead roses from you on her windshield and no amount of kizzazz "she's number one" will make her forget any of the times she had to get a restraining order against you.

Kidding aside...I agree with you. She is talented and under-appreciated. I'd also like her to get more airtime. OK? Now...you may go and continue stalking.

I'll add an obscure one for fun...how about the only remaining member of WIP's once-formidable news staff: Jan Gorum, now doing sports updates.

Never been convicted! But seriously, she is just great and I think way under-rated. The last time I was able to look at Philly 25-54 numbers, she was the dominating force on WMGK..WAY outperforming DeBella and providing a great lead in for the afternoon show. I think she is geuine person, just like Andre Gardner.

Helen Leicht goes back to the '70s progressive format at WIOQ...still doing middays at WXPN.

Debbi is an amazing person. I don't think anyone can deny her professionalism and her great personality comes through every time she opens the mic. I have to concur that she is a legend!

I LOVE RADIO !!!!!</P>

Debbi is a great person, and an incredible person to work with. When I was at MGK I cherished every day. The professionalism and courtesy she has towards others she works with (and others in general) is astounding. Hands down the best professional experience of my life working with her.

Re: Don't Forget

Lyn Kratz stuck in WMMR's overnights so many years was and is a class act. She was the smartest of the WMMR jocks of her time as she trained for a post-radio career successfully while others couldn't do that being lifers in the biz and blindered as such.
