Debbie Diaz Platinum Radio Dallas

Now that Platinum Radio is gone, does anyone know what happened to Debbie Diaz and the other personalities?

They were all dumped, biggest mistake Citadel ever made dumping a station like Platinum, I took 96.7 off of my preset.

If you look at the history of heritage news-talkers across the U.S. adding FM signals you will see ratings go up. It's been wildly successful. It's sad for those who worked at Platinum to be put on the beach. However, keep an eye on the upcoming trends and ratings and I predict you'll see WBAP's numbers rise, especially among the younger demos.

Young demos on WBAP, you mean under 40>? That would be cool. really, that would be cool for them...

Speaking of young demos, WBAP does "have an app for that!" ;D

Debbie Diaz has been bringing Sexy Back since the 20th Century as I recall!

Is there another oldies station that can pick up where Platinum left off? I was thinking KEOM because half of the songs they play Platinum used to play.

One has to think that if Platinum was doing that well, it would have stayed on the air. I'm not so sure another company is exactly rushing to put another oldies station on...

KEOM, on the other hand, has so much potential.

I know Chris at KEOM reads these boards and I'll disagree with you and agree with what he's done recently.

In updating the sound at KEOM, he has made the station fresher by adding up tempo 80's cuts. I'm not as happy with the 60's cuts as those all seem to be part of the "great 300" of Oldies Stations. I'd rather in the 1960's to have a few ""oh-wow" cuts added as well as Sweet Caroline, Respect, etc.

Having said that; if I were going to go "Platinum", I'd go to a station (pick one) that is not either not doing well or is last in an "over-crowded" niche. I'd also make sure that the ad sales people understood WHAT the target audience was and be aggressive in seeking out ads. I'd also see if I could get more than 3-4 air personalities. I think only having four live people at Platinum (not counting the traffic people) was a mistake and a half but I dont know if corporate had the money to do the right thing there.

So, let KEOM continue to freshen up their sound and go more modern and find another station to go Platinum

Regards
Rich

Why, yes Rich...I do read these boards. Thanks for noticing.

"oh-wow" cuts only with the 60's??? not the 70's? or 80's?

-- BTW: How does a thread about Debbie end up talking about KEOM? LOL -- So sorry to see Debbie on the unemployed side of the fence. Of course, I guess we are all just one day away from joining her, huh?

Hey; I'm favor of "Oh-Wow" cuts; in fact I heard one yesterday on KEOM while driving. Dang if I remember the song; but I was thinking; nice a song I had not heard for a while.

So let's do "Oh-Wow" from 60's-80's :)

Rich
