I've got it! Debbie and Jug a Lugs should co-host. Philly NEEDS two radio chics hosting a show together! It would be a definite breakthrough in this town.

Debbie will announce records and Jug a Lugs will laugh in the background.

"This is Debbie Calton, (hee hee ha ha) that was Led Zeppelin (Ho ho cackle cackle) on 102.9 WMGK (giggle giggle chuckle chuckle)"

After a couple of days maybe Debbie will smack that laugh out of Jug A Lugs system.

If Kim Douglas is that bad, why has she lasted so long? Why has she done so much? Why has she done so many different formats, and news and traffic too? She can't be THAT bad. You may think all she does is laugh and has nothing to offer. But apparently a lot of PDs over the years disagree with you.

I'm not a Jug A Lugs Knocker. I only seized the opportunity for a clever title. Had others thought of it, they would have done the same.

We needed a new post. Many of those who have been here for a while would appreciate it more than you...perhaps even Mr. SCRHack.

E. Gill's Theory of Douglasivity*

You know, I may be a complete (BLEEP) sometimes but I hardly ever just crack on local personalities unless they deserve it...and even then, I try not to be cruel because most of us have seen and/or heard of instances where stuff on this very board gets back to the jock being pummelled. So, as much as I hate to say it, Kim is pretty friggin bad.

The only theory I can "think of" (i.e., "totally fabricate") is that Barsky likes having her around and he makes her a part of whatever deal he's making with whichever station plans to have them around for six-to-twelve months.

I've heard a couple of her solo gigs and, man, they are just awful. I will never forget her (try-out?) shift doing the talk-host thing on New Jersey 101.5. I'll bet she too is having a hard time trying to forget it. It was a Disaster. (Yep: Capital "D").

Now that I've said that, let me add this: I've turned my radio on a few times in the past couple weeks and found some rather interesting stuff going on during Barsky's show. Each time, it's involved her and that's why I left it on for a while. When he goes off on his long-winded tangents (while she chortles or pointlessly agrees in the background), I'm gone. But lately, when he's engaging her in something, it's almost completely listenable and sometimes actually funny. That, my friends, may be why she keeps getting gigs. It's just possible that Barsky needs her and he knows it.

Two cents worth of food for thought.

[*- "Douglasivity" is short for "Kim Douglas' longevity."]

"Jug-A-Lugs Knocker" is a pretty good title too. Two potentially-offensive breast references in one phrase? I may have to change my board handle!

Thank you! I knew if ANYONE would come to my defense it would be you! You get me by now, which alone can be an astonishing feat. The Douglasivity bit was great, and I appreciate your insight.

This board is a great outlet for information and perspectives, and sometimes we need to sit back and have a laugh.

Ignore him. Sounds like a bad case of gender-bias to me. Some people just can't accept the fact that different people bring different talents to the table. The fact that some of those talents are brought by women brings out the mysogyny in the pompous part of the chattering classes, as journalist Clive James called them.

He needs a tough female General Manager to straighten him out.

Kim is a grinder, just like the rest of us that actually work in radio. All we want is to continue to work and make a decent living and provide for a familys. If we become "hot", thats great, but overall, we just want to keep on working. Don't fault her because she has a gig. No matter what you think of her talent.

"...sometimes we need to sit back and have a laugh."
OK, that's true, but at the expense of someone who has had success in her business and is a wonderful person as well is like pulling the wings off of flies. It's fun when you're 8 years old, then you grow up. You may regret your pernicious posts when you mature.

Interesting response. Sounds like a case of idiocy to me. Congratulations! You have been officially inducted into the "you're a racist, homophobic, chauvinistic mulattohead" Hall Of Fame!

You have shown no more common sense than the likes of those who have accused others of racism for posting about their dislike of rap music.

Perhaps you should step down from your prominent position momentarily, Miss, and realize that I didn't say that NO WOMEN should be involved in radio because they don't have talents to offer. The fact that you don't recognize the obvious difference between blatant sarcasm toward ONE INDIVIDUAL and GENERALIZING AN ENTIRE GENDER shows that you don't have the ability to differentiate between actual facts in the real world and the so-called "truths" you have invented in your fantasy world.

Are you a woman supervisor? If I were you, dear, I would plant a hidden microphone in the conference room and see what the staff says about you after you leave. Judging from your incredible response to my original post, my prediction is that if you act the same way at your job, you are not only disliked by your staff, but are also disrespected. The latter, in case you aren't able to differentiate, is more of a tragedy.

A wise journalist once said, "All great leaders were hated."

I doubt you are hated, because your post has shown that you are most likely incapable of leading a funeral procession, let alone an entire staff. I wouldn't doubt that your staff makes a mockery of you, which for your own credibility, is too bad. More than anything lassie, I feel sorry for you.

Anyone who has displayed such ignorance in my mind should be ASHAMED to post any sort of opinion or position about ANY topic...and my prediction is that you will not be able to introduce FACTS OR EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT ANY OF YOUR FALSE CLAIMS OF SEXISM hon.

I don't need a pompous individual such as yourself telling me which type of supervisor should oversee my work. Anyone can type a couple of fancy words and quote a journalist, but it's too bad your fantasy world has only allowed you to observe what Michel wants to observe.

Next time be more careful when you make blanket statements about individuals and situations about which you know nothing.

You are entitled to your opinion Mr. Zardoz...and I thank you for your response. I appreciate your use of the word "pernicious!" For those who aren't aware, pernicious is a fancy term for harmful or detrimental.

I am disappointed in you, Mr. Zardoz, as I would like to think that I have already matured. I am in my prime, my best years are the present, it is all down-hill from here.

Sarcasm and levity are far from inmature. Many people who have found themselves in positions much more prominent than Miss Doulgas' have made fortunes at the expense of others. Have you ever read a political cartoon, Mr. Zardoz? For my own credibility, I have never made a dime at anyones expense.

Unlike yourself, I never pulled the wings off of a fly Mr. Zardoz, so perhaps when we were 8 years old, I was one step ahead of you. I don't doubt Miss Douglas has had a successful career and is a wonderful person, but criticism is the nature of the biz, and I'm not the one who invented the "Jug A Lugs" terminology.

My posts are far from harmful, Mr. Zardoz. I only opine what is on my mind. Perhaps some of my thoughts are a bit outlandish to others, but if you have read my so-called pernicious posts, than you no doubt have noticed that the only ones that could be perceived as harmful are the ones in which I respond to morons who take something I have posted and attempt to make it something that it is not.

When this occurs, Mr. Zardoz, yes, I may go overboard. But it is only for my own benefit. If someone were to accuse me of racism, Mr. Zardoz, I want evidence! And when I tear someone a new one by dragging their response through the mud, it is to prove how idiotic he sounds by making false assumptions.

This is a radio board, and radio should be discussed almost exclusively. But everytime the CHR/ Rap/ Hip Hop topic arises, at least ONE moron on this board throws out the "R" word. And when this happens, I send them running away with their tail between their legs.

There is only one person here who has acutally made me think hard about non- radio related posts I have written. That person is Mr. Homerjay. He and I disagree about certain topics and issues, but he is very well-spoken, and when he tears my posts apart, admittedly it takes me a while to respond. He is the only one here who has been able to introduce some piece of evidence to contradict things I have said. Most others call me a name, and then run away scared when I put them to shame.

I'm sorry you and I disagree about this topic, Mr. Zardoz, but I certainly appreciate your input!

As I have said previously, I'm not a Jug A Lugs Knocker!

Response to chauvinist; you knew it was coming.

My, my. Your over-the-top near-hysterical response says volumes about who you are as a person and as a coworker, neither of which is very appealing. Your use of demeaning words like "miss", "lassie", "dear" only underscore your contempt for women. They, unfortunately, must endure sexists such as you in everyday business settings; they deserve much better treatment.

I say "they" because, in your ignorance, you think that, because I'm named "Michel", I'm a woman. "Michel" is "Michael" in French...very much a man's name. As a man, I'm embarassed by your blatant piggishness.

Please try to get professional help before you become another Ted Bundy.

Re: Response to chauvinist; you knew it was coming.

FYI musicrr: M DuBose (the Inspector Clouseau accent is ringing in my ears) appears to be one of those guys who plays the politically correct "sensitive guy" ("I feel your pain")as he looks upon a woman to lust after her and commits adultery in his heart. M DuBose worked briefly with Mme Douglas at a company providing sanctuary to out of work DJs. She quickly returned to real radio. He has not. And while he preaches political correctness online, he was known to rhapsodize about her (and other co-workers') feminine endowments in anatomically correct terms familiar to school boys everywhere.

He was right. She's hot. And she wears her beauty gracefully.
