OK, Purple People Meter fans...check it out at this link:

I don't know if I'm reading the previous link correctly but if so, I find it very interesting that the top five most popular radio stations in the Phoenix market would not have demo's of younger listeners.

This seems to verify that the youth of our nation are not the next crop of radio listeners. In the "old days" those top stations would have been T-40.

And so another year passes without a serving of Luvable Jay's Humble Pie. KT'R-FM still has yet to beat KFWhyEye in the all important 6+ money demo and the Buckeye Boyz win again by default. But we're not about to spike the football in the end zone as the Media Hut doors are always open for the Luvable One to drop by for a helping of gremturducken (a chicken stuffed in a duck stuffed in a turkey stuffed in the back seat of a Gremlin and left outside in the summer to cook). Please call ahead in case it's raining where we are ;)

In 18-49, KESZ is #2, KMLE is in the top 10, and KSLX is #5.

So, we see that KOOL and KFYI are in the top 5 12+, but in 18-49 they are 11th and 14th.

KZON, KMXP, KNIX, KUPD and KHOT do very well in 18-49, and are a bit lower in rank in 12+, but still top 10 overall.

The reason KOOL and KFYI do so well in 12+ is that they are among the very few stations that get a lot of 55+ listening... most stations intentionally stay away from that demo, so with less competition, those stations get lots of unsalable demo listening.

Since there is more competition for 18-34, 18-49 and 35-54, the individual stations get lower overall shares in 12+ or 6+... but they get pure sales demos.
