Dec.-Jan.-Feb. Trends

Interesting notes...WRNO is within 2.9 points of WWL-A/F 12+, B97 is on a steady decline, now with KKND within 0.3, and 106.1 is now within 0.6 of TIX-FM.

Either Tix fm or true oldies TMI needs to do a bob format, like Bob Mitchell,Bob Walker,Bob(Bobby)Reno, if those guys were interested. That combo on 106.1 would kill Tix fm and vice versa. And don't forget about traffic with the very funny T-Ben...(ray fisher)

Note these are trends. Also, 12+ trends, which in and of itself don't amount to much.

WRNO will never break a 6. Not with a weak AM and PM Drive. 5.2 - 5.3 - 5.5? Three books, basically flat. RNO will always be 2.5 - 3.0+ shares behind WWL. That difference is the FM and diarykeepers not specifing (because it's a simulcast, it doesn't matter). I give them props for jumping on the Letten bandwagon, but they're still clueless. When your PD, AM Drive team, and PM Drive team have been here for a year, how is that Local? They have no credibility.

Tix is down. 106.1 isn't up. Flat at best. They had a 1.5 last book; this book a 1.3 and a 1.5.

B97 reversed their downward spiral. Not by much. 5.5 - 5.7 - 4.0 - 4.3?

NOE continues it's freefall: 6.9 - 6.6 - 6.1 - 5.7? This should be a concern for CC.

Magic is blowing up: 6.9 - 6.8 - 7.6 - 8.6?

I think WRNO will break a 6 if there's no hurricanes this season, if you notice the only time WWL gets huge numbers is when there's a huge news story, the rest is stale. The hype at B97 has finally worn off, nothing much else to say here. WNOE has become a cookie cutter country station for Clear Channel, no more Eddie Edwards, no PD, everything is voice tracked. WTIX has so much potential its sad, Citadel needs to take 106.1 and either sell it or target it to the Northshore only, where it belongs. Magic is only up I'm guessing cause more and more people are ditching sattelite radio in their offices.

All WRNO needs to do is step up their coverage, get out on the streets, get in people's backyards, something that WWL preaches, but is nowhere to be found.
B97 has gone back to being the same old B97 it was before, they need to get out on the streets and mingle with their listeners, hasn't Entercom realized this yet?! WNOE sadly has fallen to the Clear Channel norm and sadly I don't think will ever be a real powerhouse it once was. Mikey Costello needs to wakeup and realize that he's the only real oldies station in the New Orleans area that can be picked up decently in the city and kick it up a notch.

Comments?

That's one of my points. WRNO isn't local and doesn't know what matters to us. She might have been a nut case but at least Andre was New Orleans. Couhig too.

Go on Nola.com at 4:45. Then listen to Osterlind's show. He reads things verbatim off the internet. Count how many times he leans on Brewster for comments because he has no callers and no guests.

Castner and Wallensky and Osterlind are sad. Whoever hired them, and subjected us to them for the last year, needs to be shot.
