DEC PPM

Interesting:

  • Mix hits 10.0
  • Zone #2
  • KDF top country
  • SM-AM does better than SM-FM
  • More Cumulus stations slide, but a couple nearing the bottom get a slight bump

The "real" numbers show similar issues. If you look at overall #'s from PPM's start, you find that Jack actually beat Mix for the #1 spot, by about .10 of a point. The real stories are that GFX has hit paydirt with the Titans issues and that'll obviously cool off a bit w? the January numbers. No matter what, the top story is that NRQ, which has taken it's share of roller coaster rides and near death experiences, has sure been well rewarded by PPM and the playlist seems a bit more focused with real rock. The Beat and 92Q have landed in similar numerical numbers, with a slight uptick at the last releases of the numbers. The three-way country marathon is certainly interesting and something may have to give. SIX hit it in the Dec. #'s, with KDF down and WSM close. The real issue there is what was a 20+ share format is running at a 12-13 share now. Hard to split three+ ways. Now, the really interesting number is that RQQ has virtually not gained anything, except a little overall bump from PPM, but since PPM, has hovered around a dos.
No matter what Mac is doing, the station is not getting any better numbers. Granted, the evolution is still just a few weeks (and months old). True that B&T are the best numbers, but the midday is just a bit less. The afternoon and evening dropoff. Mac ya gotta talk em outta the 5:12 Vandy-a-thon and trash the VH1 Hits. Then you have a clean slate to continue painting a music picture. I am going to guess that no matter what, B & T will stay because they do "lead", but such a weak performance, while A performance, is probably the issue that is keeping better numbers in all day parts. How you can have Jack and The Rock pulling those numbers, while mixing in a bit of Mix's music and get no swing to 97.1 amazes me. A billboard is less than $2,500 a month. The fact that WTN had about half of GFX's numbers is an interesting sign. But kinda to be expected.

So WSIX fell to KDF in a month that I would have thought would have been good for 98, as people tuned in to hear Gerry's last shows?

SM-FM and RQQ...Kind of like the Nashville secret. Sounding great, but no one's aware. I too say billboards...something! Could billboards explain the Fish's December boost or do that many people like Christmas music that it would bump up mix and the fish?

There is no excuse for the Fish's minnow signal to beat WTN and WSM-FM powerhouses. Must have some faithful listeners... ;) Ok, no more jokes.

Once again, more people aren't listening to 97.1's classic hits because the station's morning show is Bob & Tom. Remove Bob & Tom and the station will do better. People who would listen to classic hits also aren't listening to the station because they don't like the Bob & Tom promos that are playing throughout the day. Cumulus Nashville needs to decide. Do we want the Bob & Tom audience, or do we want the classic hits audience, or do we want the Vandy Sports audience, or do we want the racing audience.

By the way, I really don't see that Preds games have made a difference in overall Buzz ratings...

I think RQQ hath dropped the VH1 Classic Nights. May have just been a technical glitch tonight. That's a start.
