Just a few random TV related events that happened on December 19. Discuss or comment as you please……

1920: Talk show host David Susskind (Open End, The David Susskind Show) is born in New York City.

1944: Actor Tim Reid (WKRP in Cincinnati, Simon & Simon, Frank’s Place) is born in Norfolk, Virginia.

1946: Actor Robert Urich (Vega$, Spencer: For Hire) is born in Toronto, Ohio. (Yes, Ohio – NOT Ontario – he is not a Canuck as many sources have reported over the years...)

1949: WXEL-TV (channel 9, later WJW/WJKW-TV on channel 8 ) begins broadcasting in Cleveland.

1950: Actress and frequent game show panelist Elaine Joyce is born in Cleveland, Ohio.

1953: KFYR-TV (channel 5) signs on in Bismarck, North Dakota.

1953: KATV (channel 7) begins operating in Pine Bluff (Little Rock), Arkansas.

1953: WJBT (channel 3, soon to be WLBT) signs on in Jackson, Mississippi. It is the market’s second TV station, after WJTV (channel 25, later channel 12).

1960: KEZI (channel 9) hits the air in Eugene, Oregon.

1960: Actor Mike Lookinland (The Brady Bunch) is born in Mount Pleasant, Utah.

1972: Actress Alyssa Milano (Who’s the Boss?, Charmed) is born in Brooklyn, New York.

(Just a little featurette I hope to do as time permits. It’s an entirely random selection based on a quick Net search, and is not meant to be comprehensive. So, don’t post nasty messages about “you forgot THIS” or “how could you not mention THAT?” Do so, and I’ll just take my keyboard and go home…..) ;)

...Elaine's been married to two men that have toiled in the video vineyards -- Bobby Van (Showoffs, The Fun Factory, Make Me Laugh) until his death in 1980, and Neil Simon (Your Show of Shows, You'll Never Get Rich/The Phil Silvers Show) currently...

Toronto, Ohio is a small town along the Ohio river, a few miles north of Steubenville
(hometown of Dean Martin and the 70's funk band Wild Cherry). About 45 miles due
west of Pittsburgh. I believe a few scenes from the movie "The Deer Hunter" were
filmed there.
