1922: Actress Charita Bauer (The Guiding Light) is born in Newark, New Jersey.

1932: Actor John Hillerman (Magnum P.I.) is born in Denison, Texas.

1946: Producer Dick Wolf (Law & Order, et. al.) is born in New York City.

1952: KHQ-TV (channel 6) signs on in Spokane, Washington.

1953: KID-TV (channel 3, now KIDK) launches in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

1953: KWTV (channel 9) signs on in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

1954: CBHT (channel 3) begins broadcasting in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

1965: 2 new game shows premiere on ABC: Supermarket Sweep and The Dating Game.

1970: Actress Nicole de Boer (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, The Dead Zone) is born in Toronto, Ontario.

1988: Journalist Max Robinson dies in Washington, D.C. of complications related to AIDS, aged 49).
