1922: Actress Charita Bauer (The Guiding Light) is born in Newark, New Jersey.

1932: Actor John Hillerman (Magnum P.I.) is born in Denison, Texas.

1946: Producer Dick Wolf (Law & Order, et. al.) is born in New York City.

1952: KHQ-TV (channel 6) signs on in Spokane, Washington.

1953: KID-TV (channel 3, now KIDK) launches in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

1953: KWTV (channel 9) signs on in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

1954: CBHT (channel 3) begins broadcasting in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

1965: 2 new game shows premiere on ABC: Supermarket Sweep and The Dating Game.

1970: Actress Nicole de Boer (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, The Dead Zone) is born in Toronto, Ontario.

1988: Journalist Max Robinson dies in Washington, D.C. of complications related to AIDS, aged 49).

2009: Sadly, you can now add the passing of actress Brittany Murphy (born Nov. 10, 1977 in Atlanta, GA) to today's TDITVH. She was the voice of Louanne on "King of the Hill," and also appeared in "Sister, Sister," "Parker Lewis Can't Lose," and "Party of Five" among many other movie and TV appearances.
