December 2019 ratings

Looking at the latest DFW radio ratings, it's always interesting to see the big jump from stations airing Christmas music.
KDGE jumped to 3rd place in the 6+ ratings. (it's all I have access to, so it is not relevant to debate the usefulness of this demo)
KLUV didn't flip their main channel like they usually do and instead stuck Christmas music on their HD3 stream. They did just fine without it.

Two things have really stood out for me recently. First, The Ticket's ratings are terrible. They are way behind KRLD-FM and a tenth of a point ahead of KESN. I know they do well in the demo they care about hat thats all that matters but it appears they have lost pretty much everyone else. Their stream would add 33% to their ratings. That's just not a good sign for The Ticket.

Second, KSKY can't seem to figure out how to get back ahead of KLIF. I don't understand. KLIF is not a good station. KSKY may not be your cup of tea in talk radio, but it's a better station. Mark Davis and Sean Hannity should be able to provide enough ratings to beat what KLIF offers. KSKY really needs to figure out a good promotions strategy. They did a bunch of billboards when Mark Davis arrived, but those were not very good. (billboards really need to highlight the frequency, and they highlighted the name The Answer instead) They haven't done much since then.

how long until Cumulus blows up one of their 2 country stations to put The Ticket on the much stronger 96.3 or 99.5 signal and move either KSCS' New County or KPLX The Wolf on the weaker rimshot 96.7 signal that currently host the The Ticket or even the much more weaker KLIF-FM Hot 93.3 signal. I don't see them blowing up WBAP for The Ticket to be on the strongest AM signal in North Texas and I don't know if they will switch KLIF-AM and KTCK-AM to 570 and 1310 anyway. also maybe a refresh of the lineup at The Ticket is possible too as their shows have been a part of the Ticket for several decades and at this point, the newer younger sports fans want fresher younger sports show host to tell them their sports talk opinions to them. the problem with the most of the current Ticket line up is, the millenials are gonna call in and say "OK boomer" as the host are there boomers or gen-xers.

Bothe of the country FMs are among the top billers in the market, with relatively low costs and high margins. They are not going to flip and leave the door open for someone else to own the second country position in the market.

Exactly. Cumulus has a similar situation in Nashville with country stations WSM-FM and WKDF-FM. Rubber City has a similar situation in Kansas City with country stations KFKF and KBEQ. I think Cumulus also owns two country stations (KHKI and KJJY) in Des Moines. None of those stations will be flipping any time soon. The money is just too good.

There's zero chance they'll move either KSCS or KPLX.
I could see some lineup changes at The Ticket, but I'm not sure exactly what they would do.
