Mix got a nice bump w Christmas music. Wonder why the rose didnt. But 106.9 has been doing it for so long its hard to come in and challenge the heritage Christmas station.
I think QMF should be similar to 105.7 the point in st Louisville. I know the market is a lot different there but it works for them. A hybrid of active rock and alternative.
Yeah I don't even think the WAY-FM pair get any meaningful bump in listenership during their Christmas music run. Listeners just seem to only flock to the one "heritage" station that's always done it and don't bother looking anywhere else on the dial. Same holds true for Lexington. 96.9 never seemed to gain any ground with Christmas music while 94.5 (the heritage station) always had a nice little bump. 96.9 has since changed formats and no longer does Christmas music. 105.9 seems to have taken over as the "alternate" option for Christmas music in the Lex metro but they don't subscribe to the numbers, so we may never know for sure how they perform.
A one-book "tanking" can be chalked up to changes in the Nielsen panel. And it really doesn't matter to advertisers, who don't buy based on one book, especially the holiday-season books.
