December Arbitron PPM ranks: B98.5, Project, WABE up; WSB-AM, Star down

True Oldies #11 overall but #19 in 25-54 and #21 from 18 -34? Clearly showing what a waste this station is. In order to rise to #11 overall they must be killing in the 55 - dead Demo.

PS you listed Steve & Vicki as being on Star 94???? Doesn;t Star wish. I don;t Cindy and Ray anywhere in the top 10 demos you listed? Also why all the love for Mara Davis I thought this town didn;t eat lunch with out listening to Mara first? She is missing from the top 10 mid-day hosts also?

Give True Oldies a few more years. By 2012 comes along, there might not be a True Oldies on the radio. I hate to say this but even our friends in Augusta, GA and neighbors in South Carolina have better radio stations than here. I wonder if anyone agrees.

By 2012 WYAY will be All Mayan. The morning team will be Chac & Ah-Puch. They do great parody songs.

Cindy & Ray were ranked 16th 25-54. Mara Davis was also 16th 25-54 mid-days (though it's not 100% matched up cos she runs 9 to 2 p.m. and the measuremen tis 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

Funny you should mention that......I went down to Charleston last August for one weekend and found their FM Dial much better overall, and they had one or two stations playing 70's music that were doing deeper cuts also.

If anyone has not noticed...WSB-FM is beating the AM. B98.5's ratings are explainable (Christmas music), and it will go back down...but who can explain the leak that the WSB-AM boat has suddenly sprung? Their ratings are going downhill...fast. I guess they are now wishing they had made a bid for the Braves now.

Explain the leak? In a word, VARIETY. People want variety for obtaining their entertainment, information and want it THEIR way. The station still provides some things that people want...but people want one source for their variety of daily needs (Music, News, Entertainment, Weather and Traffic) When one source cannot provide it all, people flip as fast as their media outlet provides their "quick fix." A radio today can't get you across the internet or fly through 200 television stations...but most hand held devices with audio/video/internet CAN. People get their variety from multimedia devices, and take away from "isolated" sources like a particular radio station. Their ratings are dropping like 90 percent of all stations' ratings--by the mere super-saturation of different sources taking a small piece of the proverbial pie. A key reason why I can no longer take ratings as seriously as I could 5 years ago, or further back.

Good points, swin-pba03. I used to be a very regular WSB-AM listener, going back to when I first moved here in 1990. (I remember David Paul all too well back then!). But one can only take so much of Boortz and Hannity, even though I lean toward the right politically. It gets old. And Clark Howard, bless his pointed little head... same thing. We've been hearing it for a long time now. Really, what changes HAS WSB made in the past decade or so? I mean real changes of any note? It's just sounding stale to me.

They have made changes. They have messed up evenings! I believe their best move would be to give Mark Arum (Sorry, I can’t remember how to spell his name correctly) the 7-10 PM. I can only take so much right wing or left wing political talk. With the Bulldog sports and pick up NASCAR or something else they could take some pressure off Mark and not let him get stale. If this is too much for Mark or he doesn’t want to give up the TV, run a Dave Baker, the financial Sunday AM show, and the Saturday AM gardening, and Allen Hunt rotation. If WSB management would read this board they “might just learn something”.
