December Book

WARM on top across the board with exact same number as last year. WARM, KOMO and KJR-FM on top. Big month for Christmas music and news. In mornings KOMO was on top by quite a margin overall 12+. Seems December is all about Christmas music and news. Holiday book should look just the same. PPM is pretty stable year to year.

With five or six stations changing format it might shake PPM numbers up a bit, once the Christmas music bump goes away in January or February.

It's because they use a small sample of 1/40 of one percent of the population and they very slowly rotate the sample. May as well pick a neighborhood in Ballard to dictate what stations should do.

Let's see how PPM is doing in five years.

Listening to continues promos for 97.3 KIRO FM drove me to KOMO. Yes. I know I'm listening to 97.3 KIRO FM...please stop telling me.

Listening to continues spots from Dori Monson and Ron and Don drove me to KOMO.

The Ron and Don show in general drove me to KOMO. Yes Don WE KNOW YOU CLIMBED MT RAINER. We know if any police officer kills a civilian, you will side with the officer and talk about it for 4 weeks straight. Don PLEASE stop saying "HUH?" or "WHATS THAT?" every time Ron talks.

I leave Seattle at 4:30pm and used to listen to KIRO. I would get 5 traffic reports (that I could care less about), 5 weather reports (that I could care less about) and 2 news reports. But with that I would also get a TON of spots. Now...I leave Seattle, turn on The Men's Room and hear them talk until I get home. No stop sets.

So, after more then 20 years listening to KIRO, I know have found other places on the dial to enjoy myself.

RonandDon have a good show, generally speaking. But, its always in a manic-depressive mode. You never know when someone's going to step on a land mine.. What do we have on tap today fellas..? The happy r/d, the mad r/d, the whiney r/d, the lectureous r/d, the r/d sermonette, the "who gives a shit!" r/d, the nuturing r/d, the Comedy team of r/d...? Whats it gonna be...I like how they mix it up but after listening to them on a drive home, I'm not sure sometimes whether to laugh, chuckle or blow my brains out from hopelessness and despair....And if someone could puhleeze find Ron Upshaws "off" switch that would be great. The man doesnt breath..

Amen to that. I do love KIRO. I think Bill Radke was a great move in the mornings and once he & Linda settle into that spot it could be great. And I do like Ron & Don. But I swear you can't go 2 minutes on that station without stopping down for another round of commercials. For goodness sake, give the breaks a break! If they do hope to impinge upon the Public Radio/KUOW demographic they have got to give the segments/interviews/stories enough time to get a little deeper into the story. They still are stuck in the mode of reading the same 5 to 10 headlines and silly little fluff stories OVER & OVER & OVER all day. I very consistently find myself tuning out after not more than a few minutes in any daypart.
And, yes, The Men's Room is great.

ya, but did you know the ronandons are boyhood friends? so you all gettin tired of the contrived abbott and costello shtick huh.........

'cept Abbott and Costello were actually entertaining!

Quite a drop! Course they weren't promoting and had no talent on during this PPM just music and automation. Can't imagine the KVI conservative talk audience would stay around long. They launch with their full talent lineup and shows next week I think. Wonder if they will grow and how long it will take now that KJR-FM has gone Oldies. KVI blew off the conservative talk audience, but where did they go. KTTH was down too? You'd think with KVI leaving KTTH would benefit.

For the record. Ron and Don had a strong book. #2 in afternoons. I know a lot of people dislike them on these boards, but their numbers are pretty strong. KOMO won mornings, Ron and Don and Kiro afternoons
