December Book

WARM dominates with Christmas music winning all dayparts in all prime demos 6a-7p. KISW second, KPLZ third 25-54.
Mornings won by WARM followed by KUOW and KPLZ. Surprised more stations did not go with Christmas music this year. KJR-FM did it a few years back and got big numbers. No real surprises since this book and the Holiday book are so swayed by Christmas music in Seattle.

Happy New Year!

I think most stations resign themselves too easily when it comes to the holiday format. A more rock n' roll based holiday format could be an AWESOME alternative to KRWM's usual ballad filled holiday format. KJR-FM leaned more in that direction when they went Christmas a few years ago and scored a respectable 7.7 against KRWM's 11 share that year.

Bottom line: the December book is so skewed by the Christmas anomaly no one takes it all that seriously. If you hold your own, that's a victory.

The December book in Seattle is ALWAYS the same. KRWM dominates 100%. We had on KRWM all the time during the Christmas season. Lots of good songs (Snoopy vs. the Red Baron, + a rare Mariah Carey-Jesus Born on This Day just two examples). KMPS had Christmas on Music Row, and I listened to parts of Rod Stewart's special on KBOI 670 skywave Christmas Eve, + Mannheim Steamroller on KOFI 1180 skywave and KFAB 1110 online.
