DECEMBER/HOLIDAY 2010 PPM's Released

Time will tell as far as any permanent effect on Coast's numbers the Christmas flip had. We're not looking at the whole picture here anyway, but they certainly didn't hurt Lite. WCTK slid but I don't see a country audience suddenly moving over the Coast's format. With some workplaces wanting Christmas music on, Coast could have had captive audiences but the next few months will tell the story. If they do permanent damage to any station it would have to be PRO-FM considering the similarity in format. I just wonder if Matty has built up any audience loyalty in the market.

Listerners appear to be bored with Buddy's political rants. Yorke is pulling bigger numbers than Buddy in any of his 4 hours.

Anyone notice the errors? WPRO-FM simulcasts on WEAN-FM and WPRO-AM simulcasts on WEEN-AM. Also WEEI-FM went Classic Rock which im sure is a mistake as why would Entercom flip sports.

PPM would not have that type of confusion...

I think you missed my point. If the WELJ PPM encoder had been set for "WPLJ " instead of WELJ, it could have caused this.
I am unsure how the PPM encoders work (do they id by call sign, facility ID or a arbitrary number used by Arbitron).

I LOVE that WRIU showed up! It had a .2 but it showed up! Also, good for WBSM & WSAR for making an appearance. But the burning question on everybody's minds: where is 990? :p

They are recorded from a signal each station broadcasts, there is no way a different call letter could be confused.

You're STILL missing NECRAT's point. WELJ Montauk was originally planned as a direct simulcast as WPLJ New York. NECRAT poses the question, if the station were listed as a simulcast with Arbitron would WELJ show up as WPLJ. This could be a possibility. When a translator is picked up by PPM monitors, it doesn't show up in the ratings as the translator, it shows up as the signal that's being rebroadcast.

UGH. I am talking about the physical encoder at the transmitter site.

If the ENCODER is programmed to put out the call sign "WPLJ" over the WELJ transmitted signal, than anyone receiving that WELJ signal, would decode as "WPLJ" into the PPM decoder, because that is what is on the signal. If I put "WFLY" on WPRO's encoder, anyone listening to WPRO, would decode this as WFLY on their decoder.

How can I make this more simple for everyone? Should I draw a picture?
