DECEMBER NUMBERS

WSHH won the Christmas battle going to #2 12+.... 3WS had a higher cume but their overall rating didn't move. Hard to tell where it came from, as DVE, the X, Star, Q and ESPN were all down in December (and don't assume that DVE listeners didn't go to WSHH... DVE have some of the oldest demos for any rock station anywhere....).

winning the battle with 12+ numbers?

3WS beat WSHH in the 25-54. Isn't that the breakout we should determine as to who "wins"?

I can only comment on what I can see..... besides 3WS always has better 25-54s than WSHH. Plus, WSHH passing KD in total persons is at least worth noting (however temporary it might be).

I'm not even sure what those December numbers for WSHH and 3WS mean going forward, since they were attracted by a format that no longer exists. I know people who were locked onto both of those stations for the holiday music, and won't touch them until the bells jingle again.

I have to admit that I enjoyed the Clausmas Music on WSSH, 3WS and especially Mix 97 in Wheeling. I will also admit that I will listen to the first two station rarely until next Christmas season.

I will tune in to 97 for the Nailers scores.

Did the new Q drop christmas music this year? If so, why on earth would they do that? THEY REALLY DON'T OFFER MUCH ELSE, I WOULD THINK IT WOULD HELP THEM. are they still owned by an out of towner?

And be the third choice for Christmas music? They were actually probably better off staying where they were, since two of their primary competitors flipped.

Given the fact that you went to great lengths about a week ago to point out what "bad owners" they were, this question is pretty transparent.

So what's your beef with them? Did they fire one of your friends?

Part- It's been about five years since I saw the age demos of the various stations, but I remember during this time the average age of a WDVE listener was 39.

Now, is that really old for a rock station? I thought it was rather low, all things considered, as their playlist does seem to lean an awful lot to songs from the '70s.

Some other numbers from memory-

The X- average age 28

WEAE- 45 (which I legitimately thought was rather high- remember this was when Mark Madden was prominent, not the present day lineup)

KDKA- 65

WJAS- 65
