December People Meter Showing Kiss #1

People were theorizing that Kiss' strong October and November performances, driven by top morning ratings, resulted from Tom Joyner's emphasis on the election and aftermath. We'll see how the ratings hold up in 2009.

V-103 was down to #3. B98.5 got its Christmas kiss to land at #4.

X-Mas music propelled B98 in the final two weeks of December for sure. Fact, B was #1 in week 4, no surprise.
For the full quarter Oct-Nov-Dec, the Top six 25-54 were V, Kiss, 750, Kicks, B98 & Q.
V, Q, Kicks, 95=5 and Hot were the top 5 18-34 for Q4. Q100 is benefiting from PPM, the morning show was #1 18-34 in the month of Dec, beating V for the first time ever.

From what I am hearing the XMAS station in most of the PPM markets was the big winner. Does that mean even more ALL XMAS stations in the future?

Probably not. With the diary, playing Christmas music could result in a huge fall (3-month) book. However, the PPM reports are published monthly. So while Christmas music can generate big ratings while it's played, it's going to be harder for stations to parlay those ratings into an inflated 3-month number.

That said, keep in mind the December PPM covered November 13-December 10. So the next report will also cover part of the Christmas programming.

Speaking of ratings...Why haven't the trends been updated since October? Aren't they usually updated monthly??? R&R shows that the next updated date is N/A???

Because the Summer numbers were the last monthly diary numbers for Atlanta.

The Oct and Nov numbers with PPM were not "live" - think of it as test data.

Actually Roddy, in many markets the big Xmas station can hold on to a lot of the new cume gained during the holiday special programming. Some stations are smarter than others about their imaging during the December. If they play their cards right that cume can become an introduction to becoming regular listeners.
