December PPM

The first real change in the PPM! The entire top five 25-54 has been shaken up with KRWM taking a huge lead with just two weeks of Christmas music i this book. I don't get weekly numbers but KRWM must be in the eleven share range during the two weeks of Christmas programming in this December book. KCMS also moved into the top five with Christmas programming. What remains are male leaning stations like KZOK, KJAQ and KNDD. Pattern is the same around the country.

Advertisers will pay no attention to the December or Holiday book, except when placing business next year. I wonder if more stations like KJR-FM, KPLZ or one of the Country stations will hop on the all Christmas band-wagon next year. It certainly worked for KCMS and KRWM.

I wonder if the effect will last beyond the December and Holiday books as it did in the diary?

Did anyone notice that KUBE moved ahead of KBKS?
 
Why the sudden surge of KJR AM? Weird...not like any of our sports teams suddenly on fire.

As with some other markets who have seen the Christmas music bump, there may be some carry-over into January but hardly through three or four months.

I indeed noticed KUBE, KIRO and KOMO's climb. KOMO has seen gradual increases over the last few months since simulcasting on FM, and KIRO seems to be gaining traction. KUBEs emphasis on more music and less 'personality' seems to be paying dividends.

Clearly giving the people what they want through the new measurement system appears to work well!
 
Makes me wonder if more stations are going to have a go at all Christmas music this November/December.......

not true...warm hit the 1 million mark in the first monthly (April 09)
 
I have a feeling with numbers THIS good, they'll probably start even EARLIER with the holiday format. And they will have competition, I am sure....

But the other thing to consider is KRWM plays a variety of Christmas tracks that transcends genres, from blues to classical, country to standards. Not every station can pull that off and recover for the new year like KRWM.

And finally, what was the last station to score an 8.2 rating in Seattle.....and most of all, WHEN? 'Cause I ain't seen that number in DECADES!
 
While you would expect huge shares for WARM with women (over a 20 share 25-54 midday)...they also win MEN in 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 in virutally every daypart, except mornings...maybe the guys are ceding control of the radio to their ladies...maybe it's just unavoidable...

it's interesting now with ppm that we can see what they guys are really listening to and not just writing down. makes sense. warm's male #'s and women/men ratio have both increased in ppm
