December Ratings

The December ratings period covers November 8 to December 5:

https://ratings.****************/cgi-bin/rol.exe/arb039

While good news for Hubbard at KRWM, there's bad news for KNUC, losing a full point and 100K in cume, bringing them down to where they were in April.

They didn't go to Wolf either. So far, this is a bad month nationally for the country format, but particularly bad for KNUC.

Wonder if a lot of modern country listeners are also Christmas music listeners? I honestly don't know, but am putting it out there. Several stations in the market went Holiday for a sizable chunk of latter November; maybe they siphoned off the country listeners. 'course, Da Woof only dropped a third of a point.

Maybe it was The Christmas Spirits punishing them for their call letters sounding like the 3 Stooges...Nuc, Nuc, Nuc.

Historically, December is a low month for country. In fact a few years ago, LA's country station KKGO flipped to country for the period. They were the second station in the market to play Christmas music (KOST was the market leader), but they got better ratings with Christmas than with country. Last year they jumped to a 2.9. This year they remained flat with a 2.4, but their cume was good enough to be the highest for the format in the country.

Why is The Sound listed twice? One for regular format and one for Holiday music (aired on weekends, mostly)? Still in the top 10, will definitely rebound in the January '19 book I think.
Slight drop for KUBE and BIG drops for KZOK and KQMV. KNDD got a slight bump up to 4.3.

Moderate half point improvement for Kiss, following the stunting that ended just in time for this ratings period to begin.

Probably due to the fire at Tiger Mountain. Likely a different PPM encoder is permanently installed at the aux site.

The 0.2 listing is for the stream, which must be listed separately as it is not a 100% simulcast.

The AllAccess.com listing notes the difference.

Stations with separate encoders for auxiliary equipment or for backup have the same code on all of them.

Separate services, like streams and simulcast partners have different codes for each separate licensed facility or stream.

Yeah, I was going to say that KSWD's ratings got a little screwed up. It will be interesting to see how the numbers change, but one thing I noticed is that the stream data for the past books was included in the ota data this month, so it looked like KSWD had a huge jump this month when it actually didn't.

So did anything change when they re issued the numbers on 12/31?

The changes barely affected the 12+ shares. Almost all the changes were reflected in the "meaning" of those shares: higher levels of AQH persons. That's because the computer glitch essentially dropped two days of listening incidents. So the shares we got were for 5 days out of a week.

Cumes changed slightly based on listening to stations that are not an everyday habit.

"Snafu" by definition means a "normal situation" of disaster. That is not true. This was a one-time problem, quickly spotted and resolved in just a couple of days.

I wonder if "snafu" would be the proper term for you daring to comment on anything Seattle? Certainly NOT just a one-time problemo, Bigger and Bolder DavidE, circa 2019. Now on with the thread....

(Sorry, I have nothing pertinent to add, so why not just wish you and Rob a happy 2019.)

That wasn't my description David - it was the way the trades initially described it.

Oh, and happy new year to you too, "Tibbs4".
