December RI Consultant Report

Ok we are all consultants to the stations out in phoenix land, at least we think we are LOL. Here is my input:

KXAM - Move the new sports show to pm drive, pipe in Matt and Ramona for pm drive and get rid of the am sports show in favor of Bob and Sherri

KTAR - Move the morning newz to early morning (4-6), add Ankarlo in am drive followed by Beck and then Kid Stevens at Noon.

KFYI - Get Chuck Powell to team with Bruce for am drive. Chuck is the man to bring some sense to whatever Jacobs is spewing daily

The Peak - Make the switch to 2.0 now and go modern ac at first, test the waters, if all goes well, go a little harder as alternative

KDKB - Finally make the move to AAA - all the rock that rocks is just not working. Give us something different in the valley. Break new music, become a leader for the AAA format and fill a huge hole we have in the market

Movin - Ditch the movin name so you can add fresh new dance to nights. Call it Energy Nights or something to that effect. Go classic older during the day and go newer younger at night.

Jamz - Return this frequency to The Zone - With the Peak going alternative, have you go classic alternative and focus on the true history of KZON - Maybe even see if some past personalities want to get on the Zone ride once again.

Power - Open up the doors to Superduper snaker since he can't spin the classic alternative. Give up PM drive to him on Power

Mix - Needs a makeover, maybe time for a new name, new handle, new something. The station just seems old and the same ol same ol over and over again

Edge - With the Peak going alternative and the Zone back in the game, time for the Edge to go syndicated talk, save some money for the company. Keep Adam on the station and add, Bubba, Leykis, Don and Mike, amoung others. Bring talk radio to the Edge

Dump the wall-to-wall Christmas music until the 24th. Playing a couple per
hour now, and adding more per hour as the holiday gets closer, is OK.

The airstaff (those who are left ::)) must be sick of this by now.

The last time we saw 25-54 rankings on this board -- which I believe was for the Summer book -- KMXP was #2 25-54. I don't know if things have changed in the Fall Arbitrends, and of course PPM is just around the corner, but I can't imagine that KMXP will be making dramatic changes anytime soon.

In that Summer book, KDKB was tied with KYOT for 11th 25-54. I am guessing they did much better with Men 25-54, which I assume is their target demo. Again, I don'tknow what's happening in the Fall trends. But, looking ahead, don't male-skewing stations with mainstream formats (AAA is not mainstream) generally perform better under PPM?

Looking at recent posts in the KKFR/KZON threads, I'd say the odds of Energy making a comeback are better than Supersnake ever ending up on Power again.

Move the sports show to overnights on Lumberyard 1440. What? they're off the air then? Awwwwwww! ;D

Weren't they paired up on KGME circa 1999 or 2000? IIRC, Powell had replaced Jim Traber as Jacobs' sidekick right about the time they moved from 550 to 910.
 
actually, movin' should keep there format with a little more hits from backin the day than today, and bring bruce kelly in the morning. evenings to pistol pete and mid days to dj lysa d. she did an awsome job when she was on mega.
