decorum for radio personality's in company vehicle

I was shocked the other day when I was stopped at a traffic light and a company van of Miss101 came in front of me and a few other cars with one of the occupants shooting the finger in the air. I don't mean a peace sign. I think when you are doing something with a company you shouldn't do that.

Let's face it, we are held to a higher standard. Anytime we are representing our stations, (whether we know it or not) people are watching us. We must not only be on our "best behaviors," we must be better versions of ourselves. Those neighboring vehicles might not only have contained children, they could have contained (and, in this case, did contain) an employee of a competing radio station who would post the discretion on a message board. So watch yourself.

I don't know about the vehicles around me but I am not an employee of any radio station. I called someone about this got the wrong station and they told me where to go to get this voiced. But since it seems to stir up this much negative reaction I guess someone in the right place must have read this.

Or, if you wanna bring up a REALLY worst case scenario, that neighbouring vehicle could contain an advertising client who just might not take that action too well and let the SM or GM of the station know about it. Not cool.

Bottom line is...don't do anything stupid while riding around in a company vehicle.

Call the GM. Some kind of reprimand should be in order if the offender can be identified. This childish behavior does go on occasionally with competing stations but it's plain petty and when you've got too many eyes around you never know what trouble it can lead to for your radio station.

I hadn't thought about that. I just want them to realize that it was inappropriate.
If my boys would have been with me that would not have been good. Thank you for understanding the severity of this issue. Not on a personal level but as a concerned (listener) I guess. It's not your personality we see by doing that but your gestures.

No I do not so that is one of the reasons I didn't call the station. I THINK there were two people in the van.

I couldn't see the driver but the one who sent it flying was blonde or really light brown. Couldn't tell male or female.

Don't guess that's much of an id. If you knew the time of the day and the day it happened on it might be pinpointed. They could have been on their way to an event or remote and the station would know who had taken the van out. Could be only going to lunch but it might help.

I was going to the Dr. and it was between 3:00 and 3:15? I just know it was on the highway 11-80. Do you work at the station?
