Dees to Hot...

That's right. Rick Dees is on his way to Hot 92.3!

I think the management is getting desperate for ratings and revenue. Plus, it must be costing them a fortune to pay Rick "The Sleaze" Dees (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMTjVkkbQaQ).

Something tells me if this new morning show assignment doesn't work, KFI-FM may be a reality.

Looks like Hot has a new logo too. It is very simple, but I like it.

Seems like a desperate move for both parties.

Sure would hate to see Rick get the new gig, get comfortable there for a year, and then have CC pull the rug out from under him when they convert the frequency to KFI-FM. It's one thing to get screwed by the company once, but the same company twice?

Well, having seen the Clear Channel Top 40 double-up in NYC and Detroit, anything is possible. But it'll be a minor tweak, nothing else.

They referred to Hot in the RI article as "rhythmic oldies" which is not how Hot 92.3 has normally been characterized (as an urban AC). Perhaps that's the tweak. Could they be making it more like (very successful) XHRM "Magic 92.5" down in San Diego?

Hot gets a way better morning show than that guy Victor. Dees has his own syndication company and various shows...so how is a desperate move on both parties? If anything, they will probably get better numbers from an old Dees, than a young Victor, theres just no comparison. Oh...and KFI FM is as likely as another Dance format popping up in LA.

Actually, KFI on FM isn't an "if" but a "when" situation. It will happen eventually, but probably not on 92.3, although that was the CC's best choice until now. That "guy Victor", what a way to describe him, poor man is a major market morning man, but he's being replaced by a legend, so he gets the short straw. There may be no comparison, but he ain't chopped liver. And how bad it it for Dees that he's coming back to CC on one of their not so high profile stations? Here's a guy that refused transfer to KBIG back in 2002, then blew his chance at mornings on KRTH and ended up on a frequency(93.9)with a ill fated format that lasted barely a year. He's a smart man, but I don't see his decision making to be the best. Then again, this might be a good place for him.

Guessing he'll be doing his show from his own property, doubt they'll want to re-build a studio in the Burbank building for him.

This is "desperate" for Rick Dees in what way? And it they later "pull the rug out from under him" or "screw him," what would that do to him? Would he weep copiously while driving one of his many cars home to one of his multiple homes?

Dees commented, “I am proud to be welcomed back into the number one radio market in the world, playing some of the best music ever recorded and especially getting the opportunity to reunite with a long list of Clear Channel friends.”

So he's going to be syndicated in New York too? ;)

On population, metro Mexico City, now over 24 million, would be #1.

But on revenue, it's LA all the way.

Well....There goes all the rumors of an imminent format change! Dees might actually pop some life into this station!!
