Randy Michaels has acquired a negative rep as a result of some of the recently reported antics that happened on his watch in Chicago, and some of the things Clear Channel has done to cheapen its programming (most of which, in all fairness, happened after he left, and a lot of the rest reportedly ordered by the controlling family over his objection)--by the same token he's won a lot of respect for creative programming, promotion, and even technical and engineering initiatives. He deserves his due for advancing some important aspects of the state of the broadcast art.
He's become wealthy enough by all accounts that he probably could kick back and take it easy the rest of his days. Hopefully he won't--he'll instead find a new venue to try new and creative ideas to shake up the business, because it probably needs it.And for his sake, hopefully he'll smooth off the rough edges...
