DeGarmo & Key Tribute Will Take Place

This Friday on WDJC FM in Birmingham. Just got a letter from Mr. Ronnie Bruce and he told me he will be playing their songs, this Friday. I'm looking forward to hearing them sing. Hope I'll be able to receive this station, when I tune in.

P.S. Hope your local Christian radio station, will spotlight their classic hits and keep their memory alive. If they don't, then shame on them. D&K was one of the early pioneers of CCM. To ignore their contributions is shameful indeed.

I've been away from home and just saw this about Dana Key today.

I still have a lot of D&K music on vinyl..

Condolences to the family, loved ones and ministry partners.

K-LOVE played Casual Christian this morning and may have played more during the morning show. Even though it's really not enough in my view it's more than was done when Larry Norman passed away.

Don Kroah uses the Degarmo and Key song "Boycott Hell" as the theme song of his daily show, "The Don Kroah Show," on Washington DC's WAVA-FM. This song is a great lead-in to the content of his current issues show.

See you pal.... It will be "A FAMILY REUNION"...... So let's celebrate a life....ETERNAL.... :)

Kudos to WDJC in Birmingham Alabama. They did a great job with their tribute for Dana Key. Played some of his solo stuff and the D&K stuff. Even played some of the old interviews they had, featuring him speaking. Even did a classic promo to get people ready for these CD's The Pledge and Go to the Top. Man this tribute was awesome. Had one issue though, I kept getting a Country radio station from Dothan Alabama too. That did annoy me but hey at least I got hear some of the tribute and was moved by it.

God bless you Mr. Ronnie Bruce and WJDC Radio for keeping the classic singers and their powerful songs in rotation, every Friday.

In Memphis WYPL 89.3, the public library station, had a tribute to Dana Key Wednesday night on their Memphis Music show. Unfortunately I didn't get to hear it because of not knowing about it until it was over and the station being on their backup transmitter at lower power. WCRV played part of an interview with Dana talking about his days with D&K, but there was no music since they don't do CCM.

There is no local CCM radio in Memphis any more (Only K-LOVE) so there wasn't any place else for a tribute. All of the stations that would have done tributes in the past (WMSO, WGSF, KSUD, WVIM) have changed owners and/or formats. It's really sad it had to be that way in Dana's home town.

My little sports am (FOX) delves into local banter at various hours of the week.. LOCAL CONTENT... Monday thru Friday's at 4:pm... Then on Saturday, after the urban Gospel programming ends at noon, we have two classics shows that run until two... Greg Menza who worked years in CCM management (Starting with Mylon LeFevre), host "TheGregMenzaShow".... He did a great tribute to the man, Dana Key... He was able to attend the memorial last Thursday and share about it last Saturday (with music) and then Monday on my local "Scuttlebutt Show" from a local deli... I was not able to get away from Xtreme Radio Network.. Had to hold the fort down while Bill Scott and lovely Janet has some down time up in Michigan... Greg gaves us two hours of memories....ON AN AM! (we have a translator coming, soon! Sold to us and moving up the road)...
