Deidre Degata

Granted, you are entitled to your own opinion. But that's the most unintelligent, useless, crap for brains, dumb [EDIT], pooo pooo comment i've ever read on this board. Might as well piss on a dead man's grave. Have a little heart will ya?

Deirdre is as good as they get for that daypart. A perfect fit. A true 'from the ground up' success story. Unfortunately, corporate mentality overrules once again. The whole thing makes me sick to my stomach.

She sucked anyway. Talked wayyyyyyyy too much. I used to drive around ina truck collecting recycling beofre I got into the world of high finance, she was still at JAMN back then - talked too much there too. And come on, Deidre!?!?!? She talked ethnic with a name like Deidre. Pah-lease.

CC has it right - just like Morrissey sang a billion years ago, "Hang the Bloody DJ because the music they constantly play says nothing to me about my life"

And Wayne Brady is "all white and s--t" when he was actually "ethnic." Someone commenting on quality BOSTON people with a name like BROOKLYNdon!?!?! Pah-lease.

Deidre is a great person...you will be missed on the air :(

Well this should be a boost for every other station in the market that is not Cheap Channel.

The Jamn listeners don't have much of an alternative, especially with Radio One having retreated from the market earlier this summer.

As much as I like my XM radio, there is something to be said for LOCAL JOCKS. Does anyone else thing WBMX and 93.7 Frank FM are not going to be the beneficiaries of this move? Boston listeners are like no other in America.. I don't think VT'ing is going to be a good move for ratings. Since Bain is based in Boston they will be hearing and reading first hand the impact of these cost cutting moves. I bet the properties will go down in value real soon.

Guess this quote was total BS huh?

“We believe Clear Channel's people are our most important asset. Our teams make the critical difference in how we perform and their skills, talents and determination separate us from our competitors. We also believe people can achieve their full potential when they enjoy their work, so it is a priority to provide a workplace where growth, success and fun go hand in hand.”

93.7 Frank-FM ??? I presume you mean Mike-FM...how is a jockless station going to be a beneficiary of this??

I caught some Mix this afternoon/evening. Both Greg Daniels and Lady D were making comments on their shows that Mix 98.5 is live and local 24/7. I think Mix does stand a chance to gain from this.

The bottom line is that most Jam'n/Kiss listeners probably will not realize this on their own. However, especially with Kiss listeners, I would imagine there is a very large overlap between Kiss' and Mix's cume and thus Kiss listeners will realize this if Mix tells them what's going on. Once informed, I doubt most listeners would be impressed, to say the least.

Gee-Spin was on doing the Back in the Day Buffet today at noon. It was rather bizarre hearing him on live doing the retro mix show and saying that he was "getting ready to turn things back over to Suzy Tavares." I mean what idiot would buy this?? Why the hell would Suzy just leave the studio during the entire mix and turn the mic over to Gee-Spin?? It just sounded really weird.

For as much as I HATE the decisions made, a vast majority (99%) of the listeners would buy that Suzy "stepped aside" for the mix show. To a radio person, it sounds strange, but to the average listener, it doesn't.

I don't work in radio nor have I ever worked in any communications/broadcasting field :D But I will give you this...by the mere fact that I've been posting on this board for 3 years, I'm not necessarily your "average" radio listener either ;)

Well if anyone should benefit from the unfortunate demise of Deidre it should be Mix's Erin O'Malley. That woman is great and so underappreciated and underused by Mix. They spend so much energy on Gregg Daniel's show and Erin is the one I hear most people say they love. She is genuine and bubbly! Mix should get her out there more!

You're insane she hardly talked at all!. She was usually In and out, you are so, so, so far off base with that Brooklyndon, not even in close to the truth, nowhere near it

Yeah well given that the Bloody dj hasnt chosen the music for a good 20 years now, yet you're praising Clear Channel? it is corproations and that one specifically why the music "says nothing to me about my life" to use the quote you misquoted......... By the way, that song referred to burning down "the disco", not a top 40 radio statiom. Then again the music is not supposed to speak to you, you're a twenty something who thinks he's a hipster with all the answers, youre not Kiss's female 18-34 audience, so I should think that if the music spoke to your life then they would not be doing their job now would they?.

Gimme a break.

none of this matters as Clear Channel moved their concert business to a subsidiary and don't seem to care about the radio end of things. How many on-air personalities have gotten the axe this Holiday Season including the news people?

That is inocrrect, the concert business is worse off than the radio industry. Clear Channel makes a hefty sum from radio still no matter what cut backs you see. There is also the WAl-Mart scenario where they're too big to operate effectively. They're the largest operator in radio today so there is nowhere else for them to go, they're already number one so to speak so the only possible direction for them to go is down, I.E to get smaller/divest/lay off. They're a behemouth but they're still very much comitted to radio. They make too much money to be otherwise.

Either way it is shocking that Boston woud have a canned prime daypart like Mid days. It is truly a bad break for degata, she's a sweet girl and more to the point a solid jock.

Sadly alot of ppl are gettin the boot this season....I'm not working for clear channel nor in boston, but am from boston and can relate with Deidre....I got the boot from my station as well as all the part timers and the PD being demoted to just mornings....sad day in radio really when someone like Deidre gets the boot.....I feel her pain and hopefully she'll be snatched up by a great station in the area!
