Del Courtney: 1910-2006

Oakland-born bandleader Del Courtney, who hosted programs for many years on KSFO/560 and KPIX/5, died over the weekend in Honolulu:

He also worked in administration with the Oakland Raiders for many years, and was the team's game-day bandleader until 1978. He was also instrumental in the formation of the team's Raiderette cheerleading squad.

Del Courtney was one of numerous former Bay Area radio personalities to retire to Hawaii, including Frank Dill, Gene Nelson and Lon Simmons.
