Delaware 105.9 debuts with a 2.5 in Salisbury/Ocean City

WXDE debuts with a 2.5 according to arbitron with WGMD I heard still remaining on top. Not bad for a first book. Wonder if they'll keep going up or flatten out?
 
I would love for someone in the business in the Salisbury market to describe the impact of the ratings. Most of the signals only carve out one geographic corner and aren't even heard across most of the territory, so it seems the book is just a conglomeration of numbers from disparate communities. Do these total market numbers mean anything at all to anyone? Or are they sold by zip code breakouts in the different population centers (e.g. Salisbury, Lewes, etc.)? Can anyone tell us the market rankings for say, Rehoboth-Lewes-Dewey, Wicomico-Worcester exclusive, western Sussex?
 
Looks like a good starting point for 105.9 with a 2.5 rating...but it looks great for WGMD 92.7 with a rating of 4.8.
WGMD does not and has never subscribed to Arbitron therefore they cannot promote any numbers even if they know them, but agencies do get and use the numbers.
My question is this: I have seen that overall Monday through Sunday WGMD beats WXDE by almost 2 to 1, however the morning show is a close call.
Mid-days WGMD is putting a big hurting on the S. Monday show, almost 3 to 1.
The afternoon shows (audience) for WGMD has remained about the same but beating the competition by 2 to 1.
and the Nights have been a major plus, maybe close to 4 to 1 for WGMD.
Overall, the listening audience has increased for WGMD.
Do you have anything that supports this or can this be disputed? Is this accurate or do you have different numbers?
I am aware that WXDE is making statements and claims that they are beating WGMD, but the numbers I've seen don't support their claim.
 
Arbitron started a thing about a year ago where they only show in the ratings stations that subscribe to the book. So if WGMD isn't a subscriber to the OC/Salisbury book, their numbers and their station wouldn't show in the ratings. So that would beg the question as to where those WGMD numbers came from. I know Delmarva Broadcasting, parents of WXDE and WDEL is an Arbitron member, so their stations numbers and calls would show up in the book for OC/Salisbury for WXDE and the Wilmington book for WDEL. Someone from WDEL or any other station could offer a better explanation, but that's my understanding of how it works now with Arbitron.

They built a station around Dan Gaffney, and it seems to be working. It'll take a while for the audience to decide between the other talent on the two stations. My guess is it'll be a more even split before things are over with. Right now the guys on WGMD are new and the established talent (Jared) is on the new station. The people who listen for personality switched already, and the people who listen by habit stayed on WGMD. New habits will develop, and things will probably even out.
 
Not too much difference between the two stations with the exception of the morning shows. Bill Colley on WGMD is not likable and entertaining enough for mornings. His new co-host is pretty dull, too. Kelli Steele, their news director, is great, but she is saddled with a couple of duds. I don't think it will be too long until Gaffney's show overtakes them. And Dan, while likable, is not that entertaining either. With a better morning show, WGMD would crush 105.9 in the morning. That could lead to success for the rest of the day. Wonder how long they'll suffer with Colley's show? (I don't care about his politics, he is just dull as dishwater.)
