Deleting Posts

While I agree that the post formerly known as "Who listens to Spike" turned into a thread of pre-teen-I'll-bet-you debauchery, it concerns me that it would be deleted. There were nuggets of true LV radio discussions in there, albeit, slightly negative at times, but spirited in nature.

If one cannot see the humor in such a thread, than one should not be said moderator.

Truth be told, I have to agree with Radioworker....(Perhaps for the first time ever on this board!)

(Kidding!!)

Radio is ungergoing yet another huge change. Sumner Redstone has declared radio consolidation a failure. On another board, a former high-ranking radio executive has appeared to decry the very practices he made millions of dollars, to the incredible detriment of the "little people" who made it possible.

We have been left with very passionate survivors, incredibly upset with the state of our business. And in that now deleted thread were superb definitions of BOTH sides of that argument....Aliases vs True Identities....Radio Philosophy, Old and New....What must The New Radio Do to Survive....Character....Bravery....Caution....Fear....Classic topics.

Were the post heavy? Yes. This is a heavyweight fight. Did feelings get hurt? Of course.

However, all those posting used aliases save Mike O'Neil and me. If Radio-Info allows the use of False Identities on this board, why would it surprise anyone that the conversation would be anything but what followed?

Everyone appreciates the fine work done by the moderators running this site. But please know that all of us have been through the mill, and for good or ill, communication is what our lives are based on.

Perhaps a friendly "Hey, Cool it!" message would have been preferable to outright censorship?

Radio - Let's make it fun!!

Frankly, I agree with the moderator's decision. The "Spike" post became nothing but a pissing match between a few disgruntled people. And it was 99% negative.

"I'm better than you"...."No, I'm better than you cause I had high ratings once in another town". <YAWN>

Let's talk radio. And if you want to criticize the state of the biz, then suggest improvements. Too often on this board, it becomes a childish war that benefits nobody.

Let's face it...all of us in the radio business represent a small (although dysfuncional) family. I for one am thrilled to still be in this business; even though it has changed immensley over the last twenty years.

Bottom line....if all you can do is bitch about radio in Vegas, then maybe you should get out. It's obvious that you don't enjoy the career of radio anymore. But don't knock others down simply because we are still part of the big machine; and still love it.

Now to change the subject to something more fun....what format do you think KXTE will flip to upon losing Howard? Do you think they will wait till he officially leaves? Wait and see how either David Lee Roth or Adam Corolla works out first. Or make the change sooner?

Re: Radio - Let's make it fun!!

Cannot say I agree there. To many times my posts have been pulled off this board. Who cares what is said? It's the stinkin internet. Where you can play with yourself and teach your children the ABC's....... I liked it better when the guys that owned www.radio-info.com for the 2 weeks Lance and Safford were gone.

It shows the sad state of radio. The biz now attracts these type who love to silence

Safford, WHY?

Why did you delete the previous thread? Why do you not respond to this thread?

As much as we get heated, it is beyond my thought that you or anyone would try to control the opinions on this board!

Why are you deleting posts?!?!?!?!?

OMG....I agree with H-DW AND O'neil. Cats & Dogs. Dogs & Cats.
