When I discovered Star 99.9 several years ago it was a soft station with middle-aged hosts targeting the middle-aged female demographic. I don't think you need a radio expert to notice the dramatic changes that have occurred at Star. It's not just the completely new airstaff. WEBE for the most part remains the same as it's always been, a soft pop station that targets the middle aged demographic with long-time veterans in the form of Storm N Norman and Danny Lyons, along with safe family-friendly syndicated programming in the form of John Tesh. In other words the station has a consistent tone from day to night, even with Robbie Bridges being the youngest of the airstaff.
If you look at Star though it's interesting how Delilah is the only show remaining that represents the olden days of Star. From 3am to 7pm Chris Eagan and the station appears to be gunning for more of a Z100 and WPLJ feel. In the mornings Mike Mcgowan is an older guy but there's no denying that he's a far cry from John Harper and Charlie Connelly, both of whom were much more formalistic. Then you've got Jason Drew and Chris Eagan, both of whom are young, hip and edgy. The station just undeniably has a different feel to it these days. That's why I find it interesting and noteworthy how despite all those changes Delilah has survived and remains a fixture at the station despite being diametrically different from the rest of the station these days.
