Unbelievable...no really, I'm absolutely speechless.
They are playing with the no. 1 rated station in the no. 1 market.
SoulCrusher said:Ocean County (NJ) is a devoutly religious "Northern Bible Belt" type of area, unfortunately, so wherever I go, one of these stations is on and it is just a repulsive, sappy, sickening schmaltzfest. You need to have a really strong stomach to withstand all the drippy sentimentality dished out on this show. The music is horrible, Delilah is sickening and I could care less about her wholesome Christian values - as if she thinks it makes her better than the rest of us.
NYC is a different kind of place, one in which this "Midwestern Sap" as it has been correctly identified will not fly. The highest rated station in the #1 market should be live & local at night instead of having its programming piped in from whatever place in the South it's done in.

Bingo. So if it is on everywhere you go, whay would a station not want to carry the show?
Lite is going to insert its own music, and with the custom version, can even create the amount of talk they want (all Delilah shows are made up of workparts, as an article in one of the trades showed several years ago... she spends most of her time on the phone, and there are archivists collecting calls for future use by subject, tone, etc.,)
Oh, and the target is women. I somehow suspect you are not in the target.
Jeffrey said:He was referring to Ocean County, NJ not NYC and the post is about Delilah on WLTW, NYC..so I'm not understanding if you think LITE should carry it because it's popular in a place that is as different to New York as is night to day. Additionally everyone knows that LITE targets women but that doesn't mean that NYC. women want to listen to midwestern sap. I'm not in the target demo of LITE fm either but I can still utilize common sense when I critize the now sold CC's choice of putting a non fitting simulcasted program, even if they only use workparts, on for women in a market that is far too cynical for the sap that is Delilah...common now!
OHIODEAL said:I think the custom programming will work for WLTW.And yes, other custom/voicetracking programs, such as John Tesh,,give great cheers as well.If LA and Houston carry the custom Delilah program,it will work as well.
yocco said:As I stated in an earlier post, I do not believe the Delilah decision was Jim Ryan's. The word within the industry is these two can barely stand to be in the same room together. But when the you get your orders from Texas, if you want to keep your job, you fall in step. That's exactly what Ryan had to do.
