Delilah is on too many stations!

nd2023

2 days ago this week there was tropo and I heard Delilah on 11 stations!

WFPG 96.9, WPLM 99.1, WJBR 99.5, WEZN 99.9, WLEV 100.7, WHUD 100.7, WWDE 101.3, WSUS 102.3, WQHQ 104.7, WBMW 106.5, WLTW 106.7

Now I know they're not all local, but she's on 4 local stations here: 96.9, 99.5, 100.7, 106.7

I wish radio were local like it used to be, instead of national cookie-cutter syndicated shows.

Nick-

Are you a WOMAN?? The only reason I ask is because you love to bask in the days when radio "was" and unfortunately that shipped has sailed and agreeably in most cases for the worst. That said, your constant belaboring of "AC stations THIS and AC stations THAT" really is a moot point unless "Nick" is short for Nicolette. Believe me, I don't disagree with you, but to reiterate an earlier point, YOU are NOT the Target Demo of these stations!

::)
Thanks, continue on...

If you want to hear what a classy, dignified woman in radio looks and sounds like, Delilah sets the standard.

Delilah has recently lost several major market stations. Reason: Apparently, her show isn't Arbitron PPM friendly.

However, Arbitron has no current plans for PPM in markets 51 and smaller. That means the WFPGs and WLEVs of the nation will, most likely, continue to carry her, as long as she is "diary friendly."

Of course, the exception may be Clear Channel stations clearing her program because Premiere syndicates it.

B-101 in Philly dropped Delilah last year.

However, among WFPG, WLEV and WJBR in Wilmington, it's likely most people in the Philly market who really want to listen to her still can.

There have been plenty of articles in the radio trade media about the demise of some talk-y morning shows on music stations because of PPM. Might be interesting for radio-info's Sean Ross to take a look at the effect of PPM on Delilah.

So what's the magic number that's "ok?" You heard her on a bunch of non-local stations which -- aside from the gender issue that's been pointed out -- means nothing. It doesn't matter if she's on 1 other station or 100 of them if you're talking about the one station in a normal listener's home market.

I love this "go back to when radio was" stuff. Let's go back further--to the days of more network radio. Before the wall-to-wall local that came after it. Why stop the time machine? Oh wait, because some growth and evolution is ok, but only until one becomes too set in his/her ways to accept any further changes in keeping with things like economic realities and infinitely more competition for an audience's attention.

I can't stand her show, so I don't listen. But she, and her distributor, found success by understanding the marketplace as it exists. Good for them, it's what capitalism is all about.

Heard her leave the mike on when she went to commercials a few years ago and she let out a huge hacking cough! When she takes phone calls she sounds so phony. I would like to hear her cuss out some of these cranky callers, like when Casey Kasem went on a rant about the letters he had to read from listeners, and left his mike on by mistake.

Gotta love those important, superior types all the way around.
