Delilah joins 94.1 The Sound middays

Midday? I suppose this is a live show and not a 'one-day delay' of her evening syndicated program. I knew she would make it to KSWD but I expected her at 7pm-midnight like everyone else, a real surprise.

They might be using her "show parts" augmented with more than usual local material. Because the music in her syndicated show is a bit more current than what they're playing on The Sound.

Maybe she will be doing the show live remote from her house in Port Orchard......Kinda like Marty Riemer is in Germany for a year....

She first started her love songs show locally at KRWM before going syndicated in the late '90s, so this is basically the same thing.

(slaps self in the face for forgetting Classy 92.5...)

Today's voice tracks are offered without any indication of format. In other words, personalities like Delilah, John Tesh, Rick Dees, and others are generic enough to be plugged into almost any format (obviously with some exceptions). I don't know that is occurring with The Sound, but that would be my guess. The fact that she is based in the local area may be a separate deal, but I don't really know. The point is that superstar talent can track multiple stations and formats without a problem today.

John Fisher announced this morning on his show that Delilah Rene will be doing the mid-day shift on The Sound 94.1 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Their website seems to bear this out.

First time she's been heard in the Seattle market in years, since Warm 106.9 dropped her show.

Seriously I thought this was a joke at first but wow. Really are going for the Merrill Gardens crowd huh. Let's see how many AARP members we can round up. How many old fossils are we going to dig up and put on the air here at Entercom. I thought we wanted to win and take over the at work game but this clearly isn't the way. Musty Dusty Old and Crusty - will not get it done.

InsideRadio.com offered a few more details on Delilah on The Sound:

"Entercom AC “The New 94.1 The Sound” KSWD Seattle—which flipped in December from CBS Radio’s country KMPS-FM—has added the Premiere-syndicated “Delilah” to its line-up. While the show typically broadcasts live in nights, KSWD is airing the popular personality in middays, 10am-3pm.

While Delilah’s show will apparently be taped for middays on the station, ironically, she broadcasts from the Pacific Northwest at her home in Port Orchard, WA, communicating directly with a staff that is primarily based in Seattle."

So this appears to be some version of her syndicated show.

Hmm. Maybe a day behind on the dedications. Unless Delilah's syndicated show is taped during the midday hours PT time and this is like a live cut (her night show is aired on eastern time affiliates starting at 4pm PT).

I would expect her national show will air middays "with benefits". As in she could easily do live events for the station, and she could easily make the show more localized on a "spur of the moment" turnaround, though she can do that for anyone across the country. But being local will be a great advantage, and I'm sure Entercom will use her "local" presence to their advantage.

Slightly off topic, but I was in a hobby store in Everett and the 60something lady who ran the place had it on 94.1. I mentioned it and she said she loved the station. Then as an afterthought, she asked what happened to "Kompass".

I didn't know how to break it to her. So I told her they moved to 98.9.

And that there proves my point exactly. 60 something year old lady.... Now I may be a bit green but uh someone PLEASE for the love of God tell me how many buys come down in the 55+ demo for Adults / Women. I'll bet its ZE-FRICKIN-RO! Second off it shows that this person really may not have even sought out the station as they are an obvious die hard KOMPASS fan so I am willing to bet she hasn't even changed the dial on that radio since Icky was doing AM Drive what ya bet? The only thing missing is adding John Tesh in Afternoons and I'd say you got a real winner. Basically it's a Warm 2.0 Hubbard retread with the music and air staff.

I agree. I think as time goes on, it will be a struggle to keep the integrity of the station with the reality of the ad base. The format will have to evolve as the research comes in.

But it's a great story that happens after format changes. There are always people who just listen to the station regardless of the format. You can try to clean out the old listeners (I imagine they did that at 98.9), but there will be a few who stick around no matter what you do.

I wonder how many people swore they'd NEVER listen to country, but they listened to Ichabod. He brought a lot of new fans to the genre.
