Delilah on KVIL

So I'm gonna assume there must be a contract of some kind to keep her on the air, and I get that the station can plug in their own music. But i have been listening for a bit and dont get why Vogue, by Madonna is an appropriate song for this program. There seems to be a lot more of her on the air than I've heard lately. Do you think this is good? I dont know how the evening show does with arbitron, but I think I can safely say she would never play that song and so my question is why would kvil?

That's pretty much what they have been doing with the Delilah Show for many years.

All Delilah does is take calls...then she will say.."Let me get a song on for you." Then she's at the mercy of the local radio station on what they play.

My guess is...if you want to complain about a song you think Delilah wouldn't play...that would be at the discretion of the local radio Program Manager.

I have to say that she totally does not fit. Playing a phone call for a long lost love or a relationship in trouble does not sound right going in to Katy Perry, Maroon 5 or many of the songs on the New KVIL. I would bet they will run the show until its contract is up.
On another note, I think there is a lot of rhythmic music that was mainstream when it was played originally and I think it would be nice to hear some of it in the "mix" of the new format.

When I worked for a station that carried Delilah, it was a straight satellite feed. The only local programming in the vault during her show were the commercials and drops. It's possible, probably likely, that they offer a locally-enabled feed now. However, even with the satellite feed, you heard almost no actual song requests. It was just, "I'll play a song for you. You're listening to Delilah." The "you're listening to Delilah" was the standard out before breaks. I had to operate the board for her show a few times because of automation issues, and her out was your cue to start the timer because your local avails were the last three minutes of the break.

Delilah comes in two flavors now I think.. A Vt'ed type show that you can build your own music into and a straight satellite feed. Most stations now days I think are taking the Vt'ed show so they can fully customize locally with their own music log, timing, breaks etc.
