Delilah

And I could post a dozen nasty stories about this woman but I will not. It would be like Simon telling someone they can't sing. So don't force me to tell mean tales but I absolutely assure you - Delilah is nothing at all like the way she comes off on her show.

Please don't post nasty stories, it's not necessary. I've heard her show once or twice for only a few moments each time. As I said, it's not a show I'd choose to listen to. I was only quoting what ABC said in their article. If they got it wrong, well then they got it wrong. I can't prove or disprove it as I know nothing at all about her or her show.

Most radio personalities have their "on air persona" and their "off air persona", so it's entirely possible that she is nothing like she portrays herself to be (Rush, Hannity, Dr. Laura, etc, are probably not the people most listeners think they are either). Obviously, fans of a given personality want to believe their person is just a great and wonderful person. Some may be, but others are not. Same goes for actors, musicians, sports figures, etc. The same could be said of each one of us too. What kind of a person are we in public vs when we are not in public. That is part of the human condition.

Delilah, like her or not, she is a radio success story as she has a solid following and makes money for both herself and her network and sponsors, just like Rush, Hannity, Dr. Laura, etc, etc. As to what kind of person she really is off air, I'm not called to judge her or Rush, etc, any more than I should judge you. That job belongs to God. Based on that article though, one could conclude that she really probably isn't the best person to seek relationship advice from as according to her own words, she's been divorced three times.

Again, if someone is seeking a more stimulating radio experience, I'd suggest NPR programming and non-comm radio over much that is broadcasted over commerical stations, but that's just my opinion. One man's music is another man's noise. Obviously, the majority of listeners do prefer, what I consider to be, the less stimulating programming that is presented daily on the FM dial between 92.1 and 107.9. To each his/her own.

Nothing.

But you believe what you'd like and I'll believe what I saw for years. It doesn't matter. In the end she makes (and squanders) a great deal more than me, so ....

Score for Delilah!

Well its probably the BEST decision you could have made in terms of being tempted to make negative claims and statements and choosing otherwise. Clearly if YOU personally have such a distaste for the woman then one can only assume you parted ways with her and it wasn't by YOUR choosing. That may or may not be true but its an observation based on the tone of your posts. I don't happen to be a fan of Howard Stern but I admire how he honed his craft and worked his arse off to get to where his is (or was) and Delilah is NO different. If EVERYONE thought her product was sappy-garbage then she wouldn't have hundreds of affiliates and raking in the cash that she is/has. More than likely if you're NOT a fan then you're NOT in the Target Demo.

WKomm... mock me if you like but based on the Nightline story perhaps I inaccuraltey interpreted the "army of staffers" to a more grandiose number...Sue me! Sorry she let you go...

Radio411 - As tempted as I am, I will not be nasty in response.

1) I never worked for Delilah. I never would. I would gladly work the door at WalMart before accepting anything from her. The last two companies that syndicated her show are good sized enterprises that employed many people. I worked "with" her - as in ... in the same building, sharing staff and a coffee pot. Certainly close enough to get plenty of first-hand stories that, as I mentioned, I won't repeat. I'm still employed in radio, doing quite well, thanks.

2) There are many ways of measuring success. Anyone would like her financial success. That money has NOT brought her much happiness. Her life is in constant turmoil and endless self-perpetuated drama surrounds her. She's always wanted to be the white Oprah and if it takes involving herself in drama none of us would want, she'll do it.

3) Yes, we are all imperfect. And yes, anyone on the air is almost always a different person when the lights and crowds go away. However, she is such a total hypocrite, such a complete phoney that it's unbelievable to us who have worked "with" her (and there are many) that the "real" her has been so hidden from listeners. Those who revere her for her warm heart, sage advice, caring soul ought to hear her in private or suffer her wrath if you trespass against her in the smallest of ways. It's 100%, all-American BS. If that doesn't bother you, great. Keep listening. You're probably okay with the televangalist who begs old women to help him do God's work as he wears a $10,000 Rolex and cavorts with hookers in the penthouse suite.

4) There are opinions and there are facts. When it comes to this woman, my opinion is based on facts. I don't care how good the rest of the world thinks she is, my ethical bar just won't allow her to constantly go unchallenged as a love object for someone who enjoys the Cult of Personality.

5) I am very glad to no longer be around her.

WKomm, as with the televangelists who are phoney balonies ( the rolex wearing, air conditioned dog house, have millions of dollars, a bimbo on the side, etc, etc type and are not what Christ called his ministers of the Word to be) she'll eventually be found out. Just as with those "bad" evangelists, there will be some who will support them no matter what (they drank the kool-aid) so too will be the case with Dililah if what you imply is correct. We do live in an unperfect world and people will disappoint all the time, bank on it.

Even IF she is never found out, she'll eventually will have to answer the higher authority, I call God for how she lived her life. I guess my point to you is to not allow the anger you appear to have become a barrier to you. That sort of anger can actually release toxic chemicals into your body, so you are actually hurting yourself and if Delilah is the type of person you say she is, she won't care. So release it and move on. Just don't allow other people's fondness for her upset you and take away your joy and peace, it ain't worth it.

One great thing about radio, you don't have to listen, there is a station selector and an "ON and "OFF" button. I've worked for some real "A Holes" both in radio and in industry. You shouldn't take ownership for someone else's problems and "sins". So do as I do, don't listen and forget you worked in the same building as Delilah (don't be like Samson in the Bible and allow a woman named Delilah to destroy you).

Soon - I'm with ya.

She does her "show" from her house outside Seattle. And she made sure her fans got to see this magnificent structure go up, board by board by using her website as a personal bragfest. I used to know her real name but it escapes me. I honestly have never voluntarily listened to her do one break. I used to have to hear a bit of it because we shared a building for years. Even if she were the nicest perons on earth, it ain't the kind of thing that interests me in the least - no danger of her destroying me ... lol! No anger, no toxic chemicals and I have zero thoughts about her unless someone else brings it up. Then the stories return and I just shake my head, recalling how she was kissed up to, the things she said and did ... and how her listeners have zero clue.

Ahhhh - the power of American media!

Maybe we can end this particular thread. I'll volunteer to go first by no more posts about this deceitful person.

You're OK until someone brings up her name, then the stories return and you have to vent by telling us all about it. Sounds like you've really moved on with your life. That is your choice. Whether or not Delilah is a nice person, a decent person, or some money grubbing radio personality that would do almost anything to have a national career in radio really wasn't the topic. It was about her success (as a radio broadcaster, not as a human being), which she has much of, just like Limbaugh, Hannity, Dr. Laura, Kim Kommando, etc, etc. Who knows, maybe Limbaugh and Kommando aren't nice people either, but that isn't the issue, but you have made that the issue. So that is what makes me say that you are hung up on this and need to let it go. This is my last post on this topic. WKomm, I wish you well. Look forward to discussing other radio topics and issues with you here at RI.
