Radio talker enjoys stirring the potDan Gaffney says his show thrives on controversy: '... you have to have tension'Delmarva has its own talk show man: Dan Gaffney. For 20 years, he's been getting the attention of early morning (5:30-9 a.m.) listeners of all stripes. Fans and critics call the WGMD 92.7 FM's studio near Reboboth Beach. He even angers some in power. Take Gov. Minner for example. It's about time somebody noticed. A talk station on FM - with local shows in morning and afternoon drive - embracing new media, like podcasts - in a small market of which it covers a little more than half - and with a solid presentation. Here is a radio station just doing the best they can for their community rather than hyping itself to court undeserved praise and pimping for awards. "Delaware's Only News Station" should be ashamed.

Its been a while since I've heard them, but WGMD also had a top notch news team. As for WILM, I'm finding that a lot of WILM listeners have switched to WDEL since Allan Loudell jumped ship and went to 1150. And these people are Wilmington natives who generally hold life ong loyalties to a station.
