Delmonico out?

What are the chances that Joel falls on his sword and "retires" rather than cut loose people that he has worked side by side for 20+ years with? As the principled man that he is it would not be a shock at all to see this happen. The question is would CC fire him or let him "retire"?
He leaves for Dallas today. We won't have to wait long!

According to what's been reported lately on Taylor-on-Radio-Info (right here on this very website), I don't know if it would be possible for Delmonico to "sacrifice" himself to save others' jobs.

Taylor claims he's heard that CC has actually reviewed the performance of each on-air talent -- how much revenue they generate during their airshift (regardless of ratings) compared to their salary. For sales, how much you bring in, compared to how much you take out. But this strategy doesn't explain how the company will determine the fate of non-talent or non-sales jobs -- like the GM, promotions, production, and so forth, where determining one person's direct impact on station revenue isn't so cut-and-dry.

In any event, regardless of the methodology, Taylor's reporting has indicated that these meetings probably aren't negotiations, but rather corporate handing out marching orders. (Though it makes you wonder, if they're trying to save money, why are they paying to fly every GM down to Texas, instead of just e-mailing "the list" to each GM?)

CNYRadio.com has heard a number of rumors -- but obviously, with the meetings just starting, we're not putting a lot of weight into them, nor will we repeat them. However, we are definitely interested in reporting facts as soon as they become available. If you're a CC employee, please keep us in the loop. Forward any memos or just zap a note to [email protected] -- and as always, we will keep your name strictly confidential. If you've seen the site, you know we don't give up the names of our tipsters... we're always looking to build bridges with our readers, not burn them. (Though we will remind you to use common sense -- if you fear there may be consequences for alerting us, then do so from a personal e-mail account, not your work e-mail.)

Clear Channel just fired the Providence Market Manager and is having the Bostoon manager cover both markets which are about an hour apart. Both markets are bigger than any in Upstate NY.
How far apart are Rochester and Syracuse? Hmmmmm.....

I wish! He has never fallen on a sword for anybody. Rather he throws them under the bus. If cuts are made his cronies and girlfriends will be saved. It is not what you bring in that matters, it is how well you lick his shoes. Please San Antonio take us out of this misery.

Clustered?

How far apart are Rochester, Syracuse, and Binghamton? Which cluster is the most efficient?

On the other hand, how efficient do you need to be if you treat stations as "repeaters"? The Seacresting of America may only be the beginning according to Jerry Del Colliano...

In five years, the radio companies that are left will wonder how things ever got that bad...

You can now add Norfolk and Richmond to the list of markets that used to have two separate managers and now have one.
Are Syracuse and Rochester next?
