Delta 44, E-MU 1212M

I believe "Average User" is an inward analysis of oneself.

Do you feel intimidated by computers and software in general? Then you are below average.

Do you feel comfortable using a computer and occasionally changing software settings? You are the average user.

Do you enjoy (or get paid to) swap computer components and setup software? Then you are above average.

If it still doesn't work right, do you write a script or a batch file? Then you, my friend, are up in the thin air...

Get a Delta 44, however make sure you pick up the old software if you'll need to use the routing capabilities. It seems the newer mixer app has all of those options removed.

Thanks for that post. Explains a lot. I tried to use a Delta 44 on a station once. The Delta card played well, but the mixer wouldn't let me route the satellite audio through the card.

You're post really boosts my ego ;)

Oops... It seems I unwillingly have hijacked this thread by introducing the term 'average user' ;D

Reason: Some of us have to deal with users that are definately south of the discussed 'average level'.
That means that the software that goes with the E-MU 1212 can (and will) cause extra work and trouble not related to our own level of expertise. :p

But again: the idea behind it is good

Anyone had an issue with the windows mixer working insted of the Delta 44 software. I have set the delta 44 software as the default. After I reinstalled the software, now the inputs are shaded. Levels are showing up on all inputs of the 44 software, but don't work. The only thing that works is the Variable signal level inputs ???. I can control the output from the windows wave mixer. No input control at all.

I believe there is a checkbox on one of the configuration stabs to prevent applications from accessing the mixer.

Sounds like you're using this in Simian or something similar. I'm not sure if the Delta mixer will allow outside control like a typical Blaster card does.
