DEMI DIVORCING ASHTON AFTER 6 YEAR MARRIAGE

Agreed. I'm not much into celebrity gossip, but TMZ's refusal to take it so seriously actually makes it watchable. I do hit the mute button when the announcer sings though. :D

My wife forces me to watch "The People's Court" (speaking of announcers making one hit the mute button) so I'm somewhat familiar with Harvey Levin which is one of many reasons I don't watch TMZ.

Like I mentioned, I'm old school when it comes to news because I spent over 30 years of my professional career in that business. What passes off for news today would have been flushed down the toilet not only by myself as a news director, but my former bosses as well.

This board is not exactly NBC News. I think the topic fits. People were discounting their
marriage from the start, so naturally when it does end, that makes news.

You certainly have a point. But my question is how much news coverage does this story deserve?

Levin is a totally different persona on TMZ than on PC. TMZ is intended to show the not-so-polished side of Hollywood and its creatures. While Levin acts as a sort of host, his employees take great joy in pointing out the difference in age between themselves and he. That he is most always a good sport about their digs amazes me. Of course, he is getting rich doing that so maybe that takes the edge off.

TMZ does not bill itself as a "news" organization but it is not for everyone to be sure.

I lived in NYC during the advent of Channel 7's "happy news" and thought it was inappropriate even back in the early 70's. It has gotten to the point of idiocy now which is why I spend my time with pure entertainment shows and leave news reporting to the major bureau's on the Internet.

We have several stations that do a pretty good job of local reporting here in the Phoenix area but very little of the "news" is important to me and their constant teasing and over abundance of commercials makes most news shows unwatchable.

Her Mother (Olivia Newton John) is drop-dead gorgeous.
Or was. On "Glee" she was starting to show her age. she's still good-looking, though.

This news makes me sad. I felt better about her breakup with Bruce because they still remained friends. At least that's what I heard.

I don't really care about celebrity marriages but Valerie Bertinelli and Eddie Van Halen were another couple that had problems but seemed likely to make it work.
