Deminski and Doyle - Discuss

It shouldn't have taken this long to get these pros Deminski and Doyle back on. So far so good, they are one of the best teams in the country. Casey and Rossi was a train wreck from day one and Eric Johnson should not have kept them on as long as he did.

A train wreck? I don't think so, Jersey Guys were very popular just look at the reactions on facebook. Casey made a podcast about the firing, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxpLQkm4rJg&feature=youtube_gdata or you can listen to a few edited clips taken from the podcast http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxpLQkm4rJg&feature=youtube_gdata I don't dislike D&D but I'm mad that they took off the Jersey Guys for no reason.

Podcast by Casey about the firing? Stupid move?

If Casey is collecting severance its standard in most broadcast agreements that until his contract ends any form of broadcast even via the internet could be forbidden. (Technically they’re still paying him to keep quiet during this period) He could lose his severance for breach if that clause is in his contact. Additionally, if there was a confidentiality clause in his contract even disclosing the scene in which he was fired could leave him on the hook for the company to seek damages for breach of contract. He should consult an attorney to see if any of these clauses were in his contract before proceeding with future podcasts. He may have already forfeited his severance package for breach.

Very popular? A few hundred reactions out of a cume of about one million listeners on facebook is downright pathetic. It represents an insignificant fraction of listeners and won’t make any difference. The problem remains NJ101.5 WKXW FM languishes in the 4’s in the PPM M/S/U. Deminski and Doyle were probably brought in to improve those numbers and judging from yesterday’s show they’re off to a good start. Casey was annoying and Ray isn’t compelling, a train wreck duo from day one. Just removing them from air should improve the numbers.

The area that has to be worked on now is Dennis and Judi, their show is sloppy, a few weeks ago I heard Dennis ask Judi “Are you there”? If the listener feels Judi is tuning out of what Dennis has to say then why should they bother to listen?

I listened to them yesterday and they seemed about the same. Maybe it is the topics they select. So Walter, how is the new job coming along.

Radio is a business that is becoming a hobby.

The topics should be as Jersey centric as possible hence the name New Jersey 101.5. There could be a lot riding on the success of Deminski and Doyle mainly weak PD’s Eric Johnson’s job. So far this hour is slow, Eric Johnson needs to direct the hosts better as to do what works;

1. Introduce the topic
2. Give out the phone number
3. Take many short calls, this is top 40 talk; the audience has a short attention span, keep it moving.

Mistake of the day; never bring a random station employee in to discuss how they got their nickname, it confuses the audience on what the topic is and most important the audience doesn’t care in this PPM world.

A program director IS the director of what finally goes out on air, if a weak PD can’t get talent to do what gets the PPM ratings up then maybe it’s time to change the PD.

So they are not up to par on their first day and it's automatically Eric Johnson's fault? Please.

Any new programming (even with returning hosts) needs time to get it's footing back. And as I recall it was mentioned Eric did a great job by getting them.

It was about time! Casey and Rossi had the worse show in the over twenty year history of the station. PD Eric Johnson should be commended for taking the action that was needed. Deminski and Doyle are the best team in radio and will bring the station up to the next level. A banner day for NJ radio.

It was also mentioned that they are the "best team in radio" so no matter what Eric does or says, they should know what they are doing (especially since they worked there before)

Not trying to slam D&D as they took a job offered to them and I have no beef with them.

Casey had a good run with Scott and also with Ray. Ray had a good run with Craig and Casey. Both shows appealed to listeners otherwise they wouldn't have lasted as long as they did. Ray also wouldn't be back with a slot on the station if he was so awful as host of his own show.

Casey at times could be abrasive (just like Craig Carton) but there IS an audience for that in the talk genre. If I tune into a station and hear Casey, I will stay tuned in to hear what he has to say.

If D&D works for the station, they'll stay. Otherwise we'll tune in one day and hear some more Big Joe.

The Deminski and Doyle show is sounding better today, lots of good short calls and no in studio interruptions from station staff to impede the topic and flow of the show. Introduce the topic, give out the phone number, take many short calls and stay on track, it’s not that difficult to manage to obtain a good sounding show that will gain good numbers.

FINALLY!! Someone realized what a totally lame, self serving and ridiculous show Casey and Rossi was and made a move on them. Listen, just about all the show hosts suck with the exception of Big Joe Henry. I stopped listening about 2 years ago and just tuned in today to catch weather and heard D&D. Not really that much better but certainly better than that self-important, know nothing, thinking his opinion is always right, horses ass Casey and his sickening YES man Rossi. Truth is, they should clean house and let everyone else go starting with that Judy Franco who's whinning, pathetic voice goes through your head like a railroad spike followed by Jim in the morning ..Totally brutal also. But anyway, I'm still not gonna listen until all hosts replaced by either actually interesting hosts or elevator music. But good start guys! Hey, how about trying non-radio persons, but persons who may be actually interesting and not grate on ones nerves?!!

Did they keep Bob Ingle?
[/quote]

Apparently no with the reason being that Bob Ingle made the station sound like an old man AM talk station. They have to work on bringing in and keeping younger listeners and Bob isn't the solution. Remember PPM will show you what is working and what isn't working, Bob may not have been working. It's clear they finally realized that Casey and Rossi wasn't working either hence the demise of The Jersey Guys Show.

Radio is a business, not a hobby.

News flash -the entire line up sounds like am - am is actually easier to listen to.

gearheart needs a co-host - his schtick is old

malloy and franko should just turn the phones off - no one is calling in

d and d are as bad as the previous idiots

the girl at night...wtf

rossi -don't even try to listen - total garbage.

NJ 101.5 is good thing - love the format - but the station needs a big time face lift.

Weather and traffic is the best....
